Dr. SK Lariya has been working as the Director of Radharaman College of Pharmacy, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh since 2007. He has a rich 25 years of teaching and research experience. He has done B.Pharma, M.Pharm and PhD from Sagar University of Madhya Pradesh itself as part of his education. Also, he has published 60+ research papers in various journals of National and International repute and has guided 100+ projects for M. Pharm. As per him, both theoretical and practical aspects are important while delivering courses to students. His research areas of concern are to gain a better understanding of diseases, develop new drugs to treat them and promote the safe use of existing drugs. As a highly-skilled and sought-after expert in his field, Dr.Lariya holds life membership in various professional bodies.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Continuous learning helps to innovate new ideas and nurture my brain and thinking ability. And the dynamism and challenging nature of the educational sector has helped me to stay here because everyday I get to learn something new, sometimes from my students and rest of the time from my own experiences and research.

Being the Director of Radharaman College of Pharmacy, what is your philosophy of leadership?

I believe proper communication is the key skill a leader should have while dealing with people of different mindset. And communication is one of my greatest strengths, hence I lead others by facilitating an open, respectful and trustworthy communication environment to everyone in order to bring out their hidden and unique talents.

How do you strategize the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your college?

Our college is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and social service and we embrace advancement, challenge mediocrity, and work toward the development of new knowledge through continuous improvement and innovation.

What do you see as your College’s greatest strengths?

The main pillars of our college strength lies in our highly educated and experienced faculty members, students, facilities and quality education which we offer to them for a better future and life. The vision of our college is to improve the quality of life for all people in society by educating them, and hence our vision itself is our biggest source of strength.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the college and the students?

Being the Director of the institution, I have academic as well as administrative responsibilities to fulfill to ensure growth of our institution, students and faculty members. And I am primarily responsible for planning and supervising the execution of annual academic activities and events, co-curricular activities we regularly organize. And to do all this effectively, I collaborate and connect with the staff of my college as and when needed.

What are some plans that you are currently designing for your institution and students?

We are planning to establish more super specialized research labs in college to help students experiment with their innovative ideas. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

We do rigorous research about the developments, trends and difficulties of both the educational and industrial world and also conduct guest lectures in collaboration with industry experts to take feedback of and overview on recent changes happening in the corporate sector. And then the collected info is thoroughly reviewed by an expert panel of the Academic Council. In addition to this, we have implemented the concept of Virtual Reality and computer aided drug design into our practical. And this is how we ensure that our curriculum remains industry oriented.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

In my opinion, studying among people from different backgrounds exposes you to multiple cultural perspectives and hence we treat every student equally here and provide the same kind of learning opportunities to them. Also, to ensure positive learning outcomes, we regularly engage our students in various kinds of educational interaction sessions. Because once students will be aware of their peers, they will feel motivated and will enjoy studies more. Apart from this, studying in our culturally vibrant campus helps students to develop strong critical thinking, problem-solving and writing skills.

What is your main mission after being associated with the education sector?

My objective after joining this dynamic education sector is nothing but to empower youths to become both happy and successful.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

I firmly believe that social interaction is very important for maintaining a good relationship between students and teachers and nurturing the environment of trust and support among them. And if I talk about my strategy, to ensure a positive relationship among everyone, I try my best to provide them with required information and training programs on time. Apart from this, mental awareness sessions and talks on how to stop the bullying and harassment in educational institutions are also conducted by us.
