Devendra Singh Sikarwar is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Patel College of Science and Technology. With 17 years of experience, he started his career with a B.Tech. and an M.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Moreover, he is also currently pursuing a PhD. Mr. Sikarwar’s expertise lies in curriculum development, student mentorship, and research, all aimed at fostering a dynamic learning environment. What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

I have been associated with this college for 17 years, of which approximately 14 and a half years have been spent at Patel College. The trust of the management in the teachers and in me is evident, and we have had ample opportunities to express ourselves freely. This conducive environment has fostered a strong bond with the students, teachers, and management. Consequently, I don't feel burdened by my responsibilities here; rather, it feels like home. I thoroughly enjoy my work and approach it with dedication.

What are your roles and responsibilities in this institute?

I began my journey at this institute as a lecturer. Currently, I hold the position of Associate Professor. Since 2015, I have been fulfilling the role of Head of Department (HOD). However, my responsibilities extend beyond academic duties; I also oversee matters related to students, such as fee recovery and ensuring discipline. Additionally, I strive to fulfil any other responsibilities assigned by the management.

What are the growth opportunities available for students in this institute?

In terms of growth opportunities, for mechanical engineering, since the inception of our college in 2005, we have had a dedicated branch. We've witnessed numerous talented students from various backgrounds join our program and eventually reach significant heights in their careers. These students possess exceptional skills and have secured promising positions in reputed organizations, reflecting the ample opportunities available to them.

What do you think is the greatest strength of this institute?

The greatest strength of our institute lies in its supportive management. They foster an environment of openness and freedom among all stakeholders. This enables everyone to work with a sense of attachment and support. I have encountered challenges and made mistakes, and although there have been moments of frustration, both students and staff, including management, have always provided unwavering support for me. This has made me motivated to work hard and stay connected with the institute.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in your institute to enhance the skills of students?

We organize various extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of our students. One notable event is the electric vehicle competition, in which our students have excelled. They emerged as winners at Munjari University and secured the overall second rank. These activities not only provide a platform for students to showcase their talents but also encourage them to explore new technologies and innovations.

Any suggestions you want to provide to current youth and aspiring students?

Students, my advice is to persevere and have faith in your efforts, trusting that success will come. Work diligently and maintain belief in yourself and a higher power. With determination and a positive mindset, you can overcome obstacles and reach your aspirations.
