New Delhi: Bangalore University has decided to set up a separate Placement Cell on its Jnanabharathi campus to provide students with various job opportunities. The university has received positive responses from Multi-National Companies (MNCs) for campus recruitment for the academic year 2023-24.
Earlier, Bangalore University only offered placement opportunities to its MCA students through a collaboration with the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE). The university has now decided to boost placement opportunities by establishing a dedicated placement unit.
This collaboration with UVCE was done with the aim of organising placement activities for university students. However, the process slowed down due to the University's trifurcation in 2017 and the departure of UVCE from Bangalore University.
Informing about the Bangalore University Placement process, Mr Murali, Placement Coordinator of Bangalore University, said, “Earlier, our placement activities were done by UVCE, which was an affiliated college. However, they provided placements only for computer-related courses like MCA”.
“We have many science courses, where there are a lot of placement opportunities in the job market. Therefore, our placement cell will concentrate more on science courses, particularly on the departments of Mathematics, Computer Science, Statics and Electronics”, he added.
Placement Cell to Offer Practical Work Experience to Science Students
Mr Murali added that there is always a need for students with a mathematical and science background in MNCs. To meet the needs of the companies, we decided to establish a separate recruitment cell for science courses, he added.
M.S. Jayakara, Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University said, “Earlier, only a few students from Commerce, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science were recruited. Now, we are planning to put some effort into improving recruitment in other courses also. We understand that in today’s competitive job market, an increasing number of employers expect students to be equipped better”.
Adding to the statement, he shared, “Our university placement cell will be involved in supporting students by giving them practical experience and increasing their chances of employability. We will also arrange for some interactions with industries and provide necessary training under Koushalya Karnataka and other institutions”.
