DME Assam has released the Assam NEET UG 2026 provisional state merit list and opened Round 1 online counselling registration on dme.assam.gov.in. Candidates can register from August 13 to 15 2026 for 85 percent state quota seats.

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has released the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 provisional state merit list on its official portal at dme.assam.gov.in. The authority has also opened online registration for Round 1 of the state quota counselling on the same portal. Eligible candidates can register till August 15, 2026.

The merit list has been prepared from the NEET UG 2026 scores of candidates who hold Assam domicile. It will be used to fill 85 percent state quota seats in government medical and dental colleges. The remaining 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats are handled separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Assam NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Counselling Schedule

The DME has released a fixed timeline for all Round 1 activities. Candidates must complete each step within the given window. Missing a deadline can lead to loss of a Round 1 seat.

Seats on Offer Under Assam State Quota

The state quota pool covers government colleges only. Assam does not have any private medical or dental colleges. The seat break-up under Round 1 is given below.

The college-wise and category-wise seat matrix will be released by DME on the counselling portal before choice filling opens. Candidates must review it before locking their choices.

Registration and Admission Fee

Candidates must pay a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs 500 during online registration. This applies to all categories. An additional admission fee of Rs 1,000 is charged only if a seat is allotted in Round 1.

Payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI on the DME portal. The fee will not be refunded if a candidate withdraws after seat allotment.

Who Is Eligible for Assam NEET UG 2026 Counselling?

Only candidates who qualified NEET UG 2026 and hold Assam domicile are eligible. The DME notice sets the following mandatory conditions:

  • The candidate's parents must have resided in Assam for at least 20 years.
  • A valid Assam permanent resident or domicile certificate is compulsory.
  • The candidate must have studied Classes 6 to 10 in schools located in Assam.
  • The candidate's name must appear on the provisional state merit list.

Documents Required at Registration

Candidates must upload scanned copies of the required documents during online registration. Missing or invalid documents can lead to rejection of the application or cancellation of the allotted seat.

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates
  • Assam permanent resident or domicile certificate
  • Category certificate (SC, ST, OBC, EWS) where applicable
  • PwD certificate from a competent authority, if claiming benefit
  • Government-issued photo identity proof
  • Recent passport-size photograph and signature

The registration link is live on the DME portal. Candidates should complete the process well before the last date to avoid server load.

  1. Open the official portal at dme.assam.gov.in.
  2. Click on the Round 1 UG online counselling registration link.
  3. Enter the NEET UG 2026 roll number and required personal details.
  4. Upload the scanned documents in the format specified.
  5. Pay the Rs 500 counselling fee through the online payment gateway.
  6. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for records.
Why This Matters

Assam has no private medical colleges. Every MBBS and BDS seat in the state is government-funded. That makes Round 1 of the DME counselling the primary route for domicile candidates to secure an affordable medical seat within Assam.
