Ashoka University has launched the Havells School of Management and Leadership, backed by a ₹250 crore donation from Anil Rai Gupta of Havells India. The school will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Ashoka University has announced the launch of the Havells School of Management and Leadership, supported by a ₹250 crore donation from Anil Rai Gupta, Managing Director of Havells India. The new school will focus on developing young leaders who can tackle global economic and social challenges through innovative solutions.

The school will expand Ashoka’s academic offerings, which already include humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and computer science. Its management and leadership programs will align with Ashoka’s liberal arts approach. The school aims to provide education on par with top global business schools like Oxford's Saïd Business School and MIT's Sloan School of Management.

Somak Raychaudhury, Vice-Chancellor of Ashoka University, explained that the idea for the management school has been part of the university’s vision since its founding. The Infoedge Center for Entrepreneurship has been offering popular management courses for years, and the new school builds on this success. Initially, it will include the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Department of Entrepreneurship and Management, with plans to expand further.

Ashoka University will introduce unique undergraduate programs in Applied Liberal Arts and Management, initially offered as a minor, with plans for a major in the future. The university is also looking to offer integrated postgraduate programs in partnership with top business schools in India and abroad.

Pramath Raj Sinha, Ashoka’s founder, said the growing demand for management and entrepreneurship courses led to the creation of the new school. Anil Rai Gupta highlighted the value of combining liberal arts with management education to better prepare students for contributing to national and global industries.

With this new school, Ashoka University aims to create a new model of management education that combines business expertise with the broad skill set fostered by liberal arts education.
