NLU Delhi offers admission under multiple categories, including UGC-JRF, AILET merit-based selection, and provisions for foreign nationals. The detailed seat distribution is as follows:

Admission Process
1. UGC-JRF and Foreign Nationals
- Candidates in these categories are exempted from the AILET 2025 entrance test.
- Selection involves evaluation of research proposals and an interview/viva-voce.
- A minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/differently abled candidates) is required in both stages.
2. AILET Merit-Based Admission
- Candidates undergo a two-stage selection process: a written entrance test followed by research proposal evaluation and interview.
- Weightage: 70% for the entrance test and 30% for research proposal/interview.
- Candidates must score a minimum of 50% (45% for reserved categories) in both stages to qualify.
Key Dates and Proposal Submission
Candidates shortlisted for research proposal submission must follow these guidelines:
- Submission Deadline: January 22, 2025.
- Submission Platform: Research proposals should be uploaded at Submission Link in both PDF and Word formats.
Guidelines for Writing the Research Proposal
Candidates are required to structure their proposals as per the prescribed format, including:
- Introduction: Contextual background and analytical perspective.
- Review of Literature: Survey of relevant scholarly works.
- Research Objectives and Methodology: Clear objectives, hypothesis, and data collection methods.
- Data Analysis/Discussion: Plans for interpreting data.
- Chapter Scheme and References: Outline and citation guidelines.
The proposals will be reviewed by the Research Advisory Committee, followed by presentations before the Doctoral Committee.
Final Selection
The Doctoral Committee will make recommendations, which will be finalized by the Vice-Chancellor. NLU Delhi reserves the right to keep seats vacant if suitable candidates are not found.
