Tuition fees at Maastricht University (UM) vary by study level. The university offers 70 master’s programs and 27 bachelor’s programs. Tuition fees are divided into two categories: Institutional Fees and Statutory Tuition Fees. All international students (including Indian students) are required to pay institutional tuition fees.

Annual Tuition Fees (UG): INR 14.52 L to 20.24 L
Annual Tuition Fees (PG): INR 23.65 L to 27.50 L
Cost of Attendance (excluding tuition fees): INR 19.59 L

Maastricht University provides a limited number of scholarships to international students. Scholarships, such as the NL-High Potential Scholarship, cover full tuition fees, insurance, visa cost and provide a monthly stipend for eligible students. Indian students applying for a Dutch student visa must obtain a residence permit (VVR) and, in most cases, an entry visa (MVV). International first-year students requiring a visa cannot pay tuition fees via digital authorisation or instalments.

Note: The MVV is usually the visa you get before entering the Netherlands, and the VVR is the residence permit you hold while studying there.

Note: 1 EUR= 109.69 INR as of January 30, 2026, is used across the article for currency conversion.

Maastricht University Tuition Fee Payment

International students can pay their tuition fees either in a lump sum or in instalments. They can use digital authorisation or a bank transfer. Students will need to select their preferred payment method while registering in Studielink.

Additional Tip: If you have already registered in Studielink but have not yet chosen a payment method, complete this step via the ‘To do’ list in Studielink.

Note: After submitting your registration request in Studielink, you will be notified when it is time to enter your payment method and details.

How to Pay Tuition Fees?

International students have to pay their tuition fees via Studentlink. There are 2 methods you can follow:

  • Payment via digital (direct debit) authorisation: When you submit a digital authorisation form in Studielink, you give Maastricht University (UM) permission to withdraw your tuition fee directly from your bank account. This is only possible if your bank account has a SEPA IBAN - a type of bank account used across the Single Euro Payments Area, which allows easy euro currency debits.

With this authorisation, UM can collect your tuition fee:

  • In eight instalments if your programme starts on 1 September.
  • In four instalments if your intake is on 1 February.
  • Or as a single full payment in one go.

Important Consideration: Students who need a visa (like from India) are not allowed to pay by direct debit or instalments. They must pay the full annual tuition fee in one lump sum by bank transfer before Maastricht University can send their visa application to the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

Note: Paying via digital authorisation requires a SEPA‑IBAN bank account - a bank account in the Netherlands or another SEPA country. If an Indian students do not already have such an account before applying, they will not be able to use this method.

  • Payment via bank transfer: Selecting ‘Other method of payment (via bank transfer)’ in Studielink requires you to pay the full tuition fee in one lump sum via bank transfer. Payment in instalments is not possible with this option. The student must initiate the payment through their bank before the deadline using the account details provided below. The university does not issue an invoice or payment request.

Important Consideration: When making a payment, always state your student ID number, consisting of an ‘i’ and seven digits (e.g. i2345678).
