Maastricht University Admissions FAQs
Ques. Which city should I choose for my studies, Paris or Maastricht? I was accepted at Paris-Cité for "psychology sciences" and Maastricht University for its "Liberal Arts" program. (I come from southern Europe, I am fluent in both English and French)
Ans. Your choice depends on your academic and personal preferences. If you’re passionate about psychology sciences , Paris-Cité offers a strong foundation in this field within a vibrant, culturally rich city like Paris. However, if you prefer an interdisciplinary approach with a focus on critical thinking and flexibility, Maastricht’s Liberal Arts program is ideal, especially with its innovative Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. Additionally, Maastricht is smaller, quieter, and more affordable than Paris, making it a great option if you value a close-knit community and a lower cost of living. Since you’re fluent in both languages, consider which environment aligns better with your long-term goals and lifestyle.
Ques. I got an offer from UWC Mahindra (India) and Maastricht (Netherlands). Which one should I accept?
Ans. Both institutions are excellent but cater to different needs. UWC Mahindra focuses on experiential learning and global citizenship, offering a unique, diverse environment with students from around the world. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a transformative, community-driven experience. On the other hand, Maastricht University provides a globally recognized degree with a strong emphasis on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) , preparing you for international careers. If you’re seeking a broader European exposure, access to global networks, and a research-driven academic environment, Maastricht may be the better choice. Consider your career goals, financial situation, and preferred learning style before deciding.
Ques. How is the European Studies bachelor’s degree in Maastricht University?
Ans. The European Studies bachelor’s program at Maastricht University is highly regarded for its interdisciplinary approach, combining political science, history, economics, and law. The program emphasizes Problem-Based Learning (PBL) , encouraging critical thinking and collaboration through real-world case studies. Students also benefit from Maastricht’s location in the heart of Europe, with opportunities for internships, study abroad programs, and networking within EU institutions. Graduates often secure strong placements in fields like diplomacy, policy-making, and international organizations, making it an excellent choice for those interested in European affairs and global governance.
Ques. Has anyone attended a master’s in management at Maastricht School of Management? Are there any reviews and inputs regarding the course, school, teachers, etc.?
Ans. The Master’s in Management program at Maastricht School of Management (MSM) is well-regarded for its practical, industry-focused curriculum. Students praise the program’s emphasis on leadership, entrepreneurship, and global business practices, along with its diverse, multicultural student body. The faculty consists of experienced professionals and academics who bring real-world insights into the classroom. Alumni reviews highlight the program’s strong alumni network and career support services, which help graduates secure roles in multinational companies or start their own ventures. However, some students note that the workload can be intense due to the program’s rigorous structure. If you’re looking for a hands-on, globally oriented management degree, MSM is a solid choice.

- Provided 1 year Research Master's programme within 12,000 euros. The Netherlands is extremely international students friendly, and has a cosmopolitan atmosphere. One can stay up to 2 years looking for a job once they complete a research (WO) master's from NL.
- PBL method of learning; individual attention given to students due to small class strength.Got 6 months of time for thesis. Got to and fro help from thesis supervisor.
Dislikes
- The Board of Examiners are harsh and rude, particularly towards the international students. Terrible experience shared by many students. Also industry exposure and placement assistance could have been given.
