DCU Business School- Honest Review

I applied to the following universities: Dublin City University (DCU) University College Dublin (UCD) National College of Ireland (NCI) University of Cork (UCC) Maynooth University University of Galway College confirmation received from DCU, UCD & NCI Rejections received from Maynooth and UCC In my opinion, the universities focused more on different courses than my chosen course, as I was more focused on Sustainable finance and finance. The main reason for choosing Dublin City University is the course outline; it included a subject that matched my prior work experience. The application process included the submission of a course form at the university portal along with applying for a visa and taking appointments. Duolingo or IELTS As of now, the experience has been great; there have been times when I have felt lonely and tough situations have come up, but as an international student, I must go through thick and thin, and the university has good mental health programs that support and understand the students. Very good experience at DCU so far. I had applied for the September intake; there were no such factors that influenced my decision; it was solely based on my availability during my office journey. It approximately took 6 months for everything to be done. I started my applications at the end of November 2023; then I received a confirmation letter in January 2024. I had applied to NUIG University of Galway but I was rejected and the reason was unknown but most probably because they required my engineering percentage to be above 72%. Then I had applied to Dublin City University (DCU), and I received an acceptance from it and I decided to go ahead with this university. These were the only 2 universities/colleges that I had applied to. I had decided to apply to only these two universities because I felt that their course content related to AI comprised all the concepts that are required to gain a good research and industry-level knowledge of this field. Dublin and Galway having a good reputation and being the largest cities in Ireland also played a key role in exploring further opportunities. I don't quite remember the application process, but it had the basic requirements of submitting your LOR, SOP, other educational documents, and work reference letter (if any) and submitting them before the deadline of the admission process. My university required IELTS (I don't remember the exact IELTS Score required but I think it was 6.5). I had got 7.5, and for my course, it also required a previous bachelor's degree in the field of computing or some related experience in it. The overall admission process was pretty smooth. I had applied to the 2021-2022 intake. I had decided in late 2019 that I wished to pursue further education. I had first looked at options within India but I was working at Accenture during that time and I didn't have enough time to prepare for the entrance exams for MTech. Compared to that, the process for studying abroad, especially in Ireland, is much easier, as only IELTS is required along with a good background that can be highlighted in your SOP (which I had). I only applied to DCU because I had done my required research before coming to Ireland. I received a confirmation letter from them in August. DCU has a fantastic reputation not only in Ireland but in all of Europe. I had applied and was sure of my admission because I had previous work experience in Private Equity and a solid grade in my bachelor's degree. It has an amazing reputation in Ireland. It comes in the top 3 master's courses (MSc Finance) in Ireland. You require 2 LORs and an SOP for admission. For English proficiency you require either IELTS, Duolingo or PTE. I would highly recommend giving Duolingo, as the test is easy and the results are delivered fast. One requires a minimum of 120 in Duolingo to secure admission. I applied to the January intake and that is because I wanted to come to Ireland to study in 2025. The admission process took about 3 months for completion, right from July to September. This included giving the tests, submitting financial documents, and receiving the required admission letter for the final VISA process. I chose this course because of the 1-year graduation timeline and it was quick to complete as compared to other universities in other Countries like the USA and Germany. Also, some of my friends who came post covid easily got the job at that time (things have changed drastically now), so that's the reason for choosing DCU....Read More

I was accepted at the University of Limerick for an MSc in Data Science and the National College of Ireland for an MSc in Data Analytics. I was also accepted at Dublin City University for an MSc in Computing, and I chose to go there. But apart from Ireland, I had also applied to colleges in Canada, where I didn't hear back from George Brown but got into Humber and York University but it was for Post Graduate Diploma course. I chose Dublin City University over UL, as UL and DCU have the same ranking but DCU is in Dublin, where most of the companies are and Dublin has a lot of people and better tourist attractions. There are very few people in Limerick so I wouldn't have gotten enough exposure. The admission process is pretty straightforward; it's all online. You first select the course that you want to apply to and then submit your documents online (Transcripts, LORs, Bank Details, and Passport). After that I got a reply from the college in about 3 weeks with an acceptance. Then I had to pay a small amount, which would be about 20% of the tuition fee, confirming my admission. Then you can pay the entire fees before the classes start or pay semester-wise. I chose to pay the entire fee at once. Minimum eligibility criteria for admission to a master's programme are a 6.5 Overall in IELTS and a minimum of 2:1 in a bachelor's degree, which is 60% and above. Overall, the admission process is pretty easy; just consolidating all the documents could be the tricky part. I applied for the main intake that is in September. I wanted to join during the regular session and graduate when companies start hiring. I applied in April, which is really late so only a few colleges were open. For me, some factors that influenced were that I heard from people who graduate in September that they get hired before the Jan Intake as graduate programmes are open from October to December. The admission process took about 1 month. I applied in April and got a reply in 3-4 weeks with a firm acceptance. I applied to four universities in Dublin for my higher education: Dublin City University (DCU), University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin Business School (DBS), and the National College of Ireland (NCI). I’m happy to share that I was admitted to all four! I received confirmed offer letters from each one—DCU, UCD, DBS, and NCI. I didn’t receive any rejections from any of the universities I applied to, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been accepted by every college on my list. I chose this college over others because:  1. This college was easy to commute to 2. It was an university and 2 out of the 4 I applied to were colleges with limit exposure  3. The tuition fees was not that low but low as compared to UCD and TCD 4. This college focused on more industry relevant curriculum as compared to research  The admission process was quite hassle free:  1. 50 EUR application free  2. Need to fill in the application and attached the supporting documents like Resume, Statement of Purpose, References from Professors or Colleagues  3. There is a waiting time of about 5 to 10 days 4. You will receive a temporary offer letter stating your scholarship 5. After you complete your English language exam you receive the final offer letter Following was the eligibility criteria: 1. Any English language exam - 7.5 in IELTS, 120 in Duolingo  2. Bachelors degree in Computer or STEM 3. And supporting documents I do not believe there were any challenges in the admission process for me. Every stage was hassle free I applied to September 2022 intake. There were many factors that I had taken into consideration: 1. Work permit - Ireland provides a work permit of 2 years after completing the masters 2. English speaking country. No need to learn another language 3. Better visa sponsorships than UK and easy to get Irish Citizenship  4. Easy access to other European Markets 5. Many Tech Companies have their EMEA headquarters in Ireland  I applied in March 2022 and I received my temporary offer letter by end of March 2022.  I then gave my English Duolingo exam in mid April 2022 and received the final offer letter within a week. ...Read More

In terms of facilities, infrastructure and overall university experience DCU is an amazing option. However, the MSc in Digital Marketing course still needs some work in terms of structuring it, finding stable faculty and standardizing the course.
