Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Tuition Fee Payment Process for Indian Students

At Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), international students do not pay fees via card or online payment portal. The payment is strictly done through a bank transfer based on an official invoice issued by the university.

• Invoice Generation: After admission, KIT generates a semester fee notice (payment request) in your student portal. It includes:
  • Tuition fee + semester contribution total
  • Official beneficiary bank details (usually state treasury account)
  • A unique payment reference number (Verwendungszweck)
• Payment Method: Payment is made via International bank transfer (SWIFT) from India:
  • Transfer money from your Indian bank
  • Use the exact IBAN/BIC provided in the invoice
  • Enter the reference number exactly as given (very important)

Note: The payment is usually routed to the State Treasury of Baden-Württemberg (Landesoberkasse Baden-Württemberg) or KIT-designated account, depending on the fee type.

• Timing: Payment must be completed before enrollment or re-registration. KIT will not finalise your enrollment until the payment is received and matched.
• Confirmation: Once the transfer is received and processed, it is automatically linked to your student account using the reference number. This confirms your enrollment (Immatrikulation). Processing time can take a few working days up to 1–2 weeks, depending on international transfer speed.
