Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Political Science)
Field of Study:
The six-semester bachelor's degree in Political Science, sponsored by the Institute for Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen, provides students with the specialist knowledge, skills and methods they need for scientific work, for the critical classification of scientific findings, and for responsible action, taking into account the requirements and changes in the modern professional world empower in democratic societies.
The course combines a general basic social science education with targeted training in the competence areas of the Institute for Political Science:

In addition to the subject-specific content, the students are taught key qualifications: They are promoted in their judgment, expression, communication, and team skills, training in presentation techniques, and acquire IT skills.
A bachelor's degree in political science is a degree that combines basic scientific qualifications with analytical-methodological skills. This makes it multifunctional in terms of subsequent options. The skills acquired qualify the graduates for a wide range of professional fields in politics, administration, media, public relations, associations, international organizations, and science.

There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
