The study in the bachelor's degree in Medical Biology is intended to provide students with the necessary specialist knowledge, skills, and methods of biological-medical and professional training in such a way that they are able to carry out scientific work, to critically classify scientific findings, and to work in laboratories.

There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
