- There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg Essen. However, there is a social contribution and student body fee.
- Public health insurance in Germany costs approximately 110 euros per month, if you are 30 years of age or under, or you have not yet exceeded 14 semesters of study. Insurance contributions rise to at least 166 euros per month after that.

The studies in the master’s course “Communications Engineering” expand the basic knowledge from the bachelor’s course to include advanced theory as well as the various communication techniques in both analog and digital form for areas of application in wireless and optical signal transmission.
The aim of training in the “Communications Engineering” master’s course is to prepare students for demanding activities in management, research, and teaching. After broad basics are required through a corresponding bachelor's degree, the knowledge should be deepened in
- the higher mathematics and numerical mathematics required for demanding technical subjects as well as in electromagnetic field theory,
- the technical subjects that serve as the basis for more demanding job profiles in electrical engineering and information technology and
- the technical profile subjects that should allow a demanding job in the field of communication technology
The following specific goals are aimed at:
- the ability to familiarize students with theoretically demanding topics,
- the ability to solve demanding tasks that require extensive theoretical aids in modeling, synthesis, and simulation.
This prepares the graduates primarily for the following professional fields:
- Research into innovative technologies in communication technology, especially wireless transmission in the field of high-frequency technology,
- Transferring these technologies into industrial practice,
- Senior positions in industry in the development and operation of communication systems.
