  • Great research facilities and library. Not many clubs, events, sport and extracurricular activities.

  • My department helped us find student accommodation. Non-student accommodation can be found through websites. Monthly rent in the student-dormitory was 220 euros per month in 2021.
  • Each person got an individual room, bathroom and kitchen were shared. A washing machine and dryer were provided. Good heating and water also. A housemaster was present in every dormitory and approachable for any issues.

The campus is always busy with some events. There were summer festivals and carnivals (depends on city culture). The library is well equipped and ideal for studying. Every University building has WiFi.

There are clubs/facilities for every aspect mentioned like libraries, WiFi, sports, gym. Many student benefits could be used for example in restaurants.

Housing crisis is real and every student faces problem with finding accommodation in time. The waiting periods of dorms are about 6-8 months, even more. But depending on the budget, the dorms can be of a single room with shared washroom and kitchen (can be shared for about 17 students (low budget) to about 5/3 students (high budgets). There are also dorms with rooms with attached washroom and a kitchen. If dorms are not available, private apartments must be searched.

I definitely can't ask for anything better. Be it academics, sports, extracurricular activities, clubs. There is an active international club Bonn that organize events throughout the year. Research facilities are top notch We have two libraries with very good facilities There are a lot of sports facilities and I myself an active participant in few of them.

I live in a student dormitory. It costs me 280€ per month and it is quite cheap in Germany to get such a place. The rent includes WiFI, electricity, heating costs. Each person gets their own room and have to share the kitchen and washrooms with 4 other people. Based on what you want, you can also take a single apartment or studio flat where you get your kitchen and washroom.

There are many clubs, international communities and what not to keep you active and running throughout the semester. Apart from this the university also offer training course for all forms of arts(dancing, singing, fighting, games, sports). Its a list of 200 courses I guess. Taught once or twice a week. The libraries are amazing with a very good view of the river. The staff is polite and always ready to help. Wifi service is omnipresent in the university.

STW flats: these are built for the students and less costly. Around 280 euros here in Bonn at least. Some might also be around 350 mostly studio flats. Depending on the type and area. This is the least that should be expected. It includes rent, water, heater, wifi and electricity. Private flats: they might be anywhere between 450 to 1000 or even more. But as a student you should opt for the lower range of course. It might include utilities or might not. Students only opt for these when there is no option left. Alternatively, you can always contact the STW via email to ask for what kinds of affordable options are there and they might be helpful."

Campus Life

Campus life is the City life. Bonn is built around the university, a proverbial university town. There is an Indian Students Association of Bonn and Cologne, and it was a relief to have a support system of Indian students whome you can approach whenever you feel down and low. They organise Indian festivals, just to stay connected with the diaspora and home, with support from the Indian embassy at Cologne. There is an University library and a town library available free of cost for a student. Medical is taken care of by the health insurance that is compulsory for living there. I wasn't there long enough to be a part of any club, though I am pretty sure the socieities and clubs are vibrant for various skills.

There are no on-campus hostels there. All accomodation is at student dormitories spread throughout the town/city. The Studierendenwerk Bonn asks for the choice of accomodation (shared bathroom/kitchen or single occupancy apartments) during the application process. I chose a single occupancy apartment with an integrated kitchenette. Supermarkets ( Aldi, Lidl, Rewe) are available to buy groceries for cooking your own food. Local eateries are good for grabbing a quick bite.
