The areas of application for graduates of the business informatics course lie at the interface between computer science and economics, especially business administration. Among other things, it touches on engineering, communication science, and operations research. There is also a close connection to industrial engineering, especially in the areas of materials management, production planning, and control and logistics.

- Admission to the master's program at the TU Ilmenau requires a passed aptitude test. This aptitude test takes place as a formal test of your certificates.
