- Romance studies deal with the languages, literatures, and cultures of the Romansh-speaking world, as it developed as the legacy of the Roman Empire in parts of Europe (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania) and, as a result of colonization, on other continents.
- Osnabrück Romance Studies is one of two universities in Lower Saxony with the opportunity to study Italian and, in addition to foreign language skills, to acquire in-depth knowledge of Italian culture, literature and the media.
