The WBCHSE Class 12 exam includes theory exams and practicals. The total marks for each subject are 100. The marks are divided differently for the practical and non-practical subjects. The practical subjects have 70 marks for theory and 30 for the practicals. Whereas the non-practical subjects have 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for the internal assessment.
- In the WBCHSE Class 12 exam, due to the low rate of registration, the Board has discontinued various subjects such as Punjabi, Gujarati, and French.
- Many other vocational subjects have been added to the WBCHSE Class 12 syllabus 2026.
- The new subjects introduced under the WB HS Syllabus 2026 are banking, financial services and insurance, food processing, and telecom. Applied artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the science of well-being have been introduced.
- The West Bengal Board has also changed the names of subjects and their codes.
- The home management and family resource (HMFR) will now be called human development and resource management (HDRM). While agronomy (AGNM) has been remanded as agriculture (AGRI), health and physical education (PHED) will be called the same, but the code for it is changed to HPED.
