UP Board Class 10 Science Syllabus- Preparation Tips

  • Download syllabus: First of all, download the official Pdf and highlight the exact list of chapters and teacher instructions.
  • Write a topic-priority list: Assign Units I and II (chemistry and biology) a high priority as they are the most heavily marked.
  • Practice model papers of UPMSP (timed): Solve model papers as they are designed for practice to correspond with the style of the questions and time in the board exam.
  • Practice Experiments: Categorically perform all required experiments and maintain a clean practical record book - in many instances internal assessment relies on it.
  • Revision checklist (2-3 weeks before exam): Make a checklist of important formulas, reactions, life-process flow charts, lens/mirror ray diagrams, circuit diagrams, and one-sentence summaries of each chapter.

Study Plan for UP Board Class 10 Science Syllabus

  • Week 1: Unit I and II - concepts, practice numerical problems and diagrams, solve two past-paper sections a day.
  • Week 2: Units III-V + practical revision - Use flashcards for reactions/definitions; practice linking and labeling on diagrams; lab notebook revision and experiment revision.
  • Last 3 days: Solve 2 full UPMSP model papers after which analyse and correct mistakes; make the practical file ready and make one-page summaries of each of the chapters.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Ques. Where do I find the official syllabus of Class 10 Science of UP Board?

Ans. The syllabus is always released by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) on the website. It is accessible to students on the UPMSP syllabus page, whereby, under Class 10 Syllabus, they have to choose Science (Subject Code 931). The document is in PDF format and is the most legitimate since it is the document released by the board itself

Ques. How many marks are allotted to practicals and internal assessment of the UP Board Class 10 Science exam?

Ans. The UP Board Class 10 Science exam is a total of 100 marks. This is going to give 70 marks in the written (theory) paper and 30 marks in the internal assessment/ practicals. Internal marks consist of practical experiments, written record work, viva, project work, and class work. These 30 marks are very critical as they determine your practical ability, laboratory work and consistency in classroom tasks. Students are required to do the practical files and project work appropriately because internal marks are included in the board exam marks.

Ques. Which units are the highest-marking units in the UP Board Class 10 Science exam?

Ans. As stated in the official mark distribution, the units Chemical Substances - Nature and Behaviour (20 marks) and World of Living (20 marks) are of the highest weightage. Collectively, they constitute over half of the theory paper (40 out of 70 marks). As a consequence, Chemistry (reactions, acids, bases, metals, carbon compounds) and Biology (life processes, reproduction, heredity) should be paid more attention to by students to score highly. Physics (Light and Electricity) also plays a role, but it has a relatively lesser weight. The high-weight units priority should be taken to promote better time management and higher scores.

Ques. Are model/sample papers offered by UPMSP for UP board class 10 exam?

Ans. Yes. Official model papers/sample papers are also published on all Class 10 subjects, including Science by UPMSP annually. These papers are highly significant as they represent the real question paper format, distribution of marks, and nature of questions (MCQs, short answer, long answer, diagrams, etc.). These model papers should be practiced by students under conditions of time so that speed and accuracy can be enhanced. They are available on the official UPMSP site in the Model Papers/Exam Resources section.

Ques. Is the UP board class 10 syllabus subject to any annual revisions?

Ans. Yes. UPMSP occasionally rewrites or revises the syllabus of Class 10 Science to exclude outdated topics or to conform to the NCERT/CBSE pattern. Some of the changes include: cutting down on the chapters in the book, changing the practical work, or altering the mark distribution. That is why students should never start preparing without checking the newest syllabus of the current academic session (for example, 2025-26) on the official syllabus page of the UPMSP. The application of the right syllabus will prevent wastage of time on issues that are not examinable.
