RTU CAM 2026 is the Centralized Admission Process conducted by Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota, for M.Tech and M.Arch programmes at government, private, and RTU-affiliated engineering and architecture colleges across Rajasthan. The process is merit-based — GATE 2026 score holders are ranked first, while non-GATE candidates are ranked on their qualifying degree aggregate, and no separate entrance examination is held. With the online registration deadline on July 2, 2026, candidates must complete their application and fee payment on the official CAM portal at tportu.in without delay.
- Registration Deadline: RTU CAM 2026 online registration closes on July 2, 2026. Candidates must visit tportu.in, complete the application form, upload required documents, and pay the registration fee of ₹3,000 (General/EWS) or ₹1,500 (reserved categories) before the deadline. No applications will be accepted after this date.
- Merit List: The RTU CAM 2026 provisional merit list is expected in the second or third week of July 2026. The list ranks GATE holders by their GATE score and non-GATE candidates by aggregate marks in the qualifying degree. In 2025, the merit list was published about 10–14 days after registration closed.
- Round 1 Seat Allotment: RTU CAM 2026 Round 1 seat allotment is expected in the last week of July 2026. A total of 5 allotment rounds will be conducted, giving candidates multiple opportunities to upgrade their college or specialisation. Candidates should lock their choice of college and specialisation carefully before Round 1 opens.
- Choice Filling: RTU CAM 2026 choice filling for preferred M.Tech and M.Arch specialisations and colleges is expected to open in the third week of July 2026. In 2025, candidates had approximately 5–7 days to fill and lock their choices. You should arrange your institute-specialisation preferences carefully before locking, as changes are not allowed after the lock deadline in each round.
What is RTU CAM 2026?
RTU CAM stands for Rajasthan Technical University Centralized Admission for M.Tech and M.Arch. It is the official centralized process for postgraduate engineering and architecture admissions at government, autonomous, and private RTU-affiliated colleges in Rajasthan. RTU Kota manages and conducts the entire process online through its official CAM portal.
Unlike most postgraduate engineering admission processes, RTU CAM does not conduct a separate written examination. Admission is based on GATE score for GATE qualifiers or on aggregate marks in the qualifying degree for non-GATE candidates. GATE score holders are always ranked above non-GATE candidates in the merit list and get priority in seat allotment.
RTU was established under the Rajasthan Technical University Act, 2006. More than 300 engineering and management colleges are affiliated with RTU across Rajasthan. The CAM process was introduced to bring transparency and uniformity to M.Tech and M.Arch admissions, replacing earlier decentralized college-level admission procedures. About 31 to 48 M.Tech colleges and 1 M.Arch college participate in the RTU CAM admission process every year.

RTU CAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria
You must check your eligibility carefully before applying for RTU CAM 2026. RTU Kota verifies eligibility at the time of document verification after seat allotment. If you do not meet the criteria, your allotted seat will be cancelled.
Eligibility for M.Tech Admission through RTU CAM 2026
To apply for M.Tech programmes, you must have a B.E. or B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering discipline from RTU Kota or any recognized university or institution approved by AICTE or UGC. The minimum marks requirements are:
| Category | Minimum Aggregate Marks | Minimum CGPA (10-point scale) |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS | 55% | 6.25 |
| OBC / BC (Non-Creamy Layer) / MBC / SBC | 50% | 5.75 |
| SC / ST / PwD | 45% | 5.25 |
You must choose a specialisation that is related to your undergraduate engineering discipline. For example, a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering qualifies you for M.Tech in Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. Cross-discipline applications are allowed in certain cases — always check the official seat matrix for the eligibility mapping before filling choices.
Eligibility for M.Arch Admission through RTU CAM 2026
For M.Arch admission, you must hold a B.Arch degree with at least 50% aggregate marks from a university recognized by the Council of Architecture (CoA). M.Arch is currently offered only at RTU Kota itself, in the Urban Design specialisation, with 20 seats.
GATE Score Requirements
- Candidates with a valid GATE 2024, GATE 2025, or GATE 2026 score in the relevant paper are given priority over non-GATE candidates in the merit list.
- B.E. / B.Tech degree holders without a GATE score can also apply. They are ranked separately based on aggregate marks in the qualifying degree and are considered after GATE candidates.
- M.Sc or MCA degree holders must have a valid GATE score to apply through RTU CAM 2026. Without a GATE score, M.Sc and MCA graduates are not eligible.
- GATE score is valid for 3 years from the year of qualification. So GATE 2024, GATE 2025, and GATE 2026 scores are all accepted for RTU CAM 2026.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- There is no age limit for RTU CAM 2026.
- Candidates in their final year of B.E. / B.Tech may apply provisionally, but they must submit the final degree or provisional certificate at the time of document verification after seat allotment.
- A medical fitness certificate from a government medical officer is required at the time of college reporting.
- Rajasthan domicile is preferred for state-quota seats. Candidates from other states should check if they are eligible for seats under the open / management quota at individual institutes.
RTU CAM 2026 Application Process and Registration
RTU CAM 2026 registration is currently open and the last date is July 2, 2026. The entire application process is online at tportu.in. You do not need to visit any RTU office to apply. There are three main steps to complete your RTU CAM 2026 application.
If you have not registered yet, do so before July 2, 2026. This is the final deadline and no extension has been announced. Missing this deadline means you cannot participate in any round of RTU CAM 2026 seat allotment.
Step 1 — Online Registration and Fee Payment
Go to tportu.in and click on the New Registration link for RTU CAM 2026. Provide the following basic details:
- Full name, father’s name, and date of birth (as in 10th certificate)
- Valid mobile number and email ID for OTP verification
- Category — General / SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwD
- GATE 2024 / 2025 / 2026 registration number and score (if applicable)
After registration, the system generates a unique application number. Save this number securely — it is your login ID for all future sessions on the portal. Pay the registration fee online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. The fee is non-refundable, non-adjustable, and non-transferable.
Step 2 — Filling the Application Form
Log in with your application number and complete the full application form. You need to fill in:
- Personal details — permanent address, correspondence address, parent details
- Educational details — marks in 10th, 12th, and all semesters of UG degree
- GATE score details — paper code, registration number, score, and rank (if applicable)
- Category and sub-category details with certificate reference number
- Domicile or state of residence information
Check all entries carefully before submission. Errors in category, percentage, or GATE score will directly affect your rank in the merit list. Once submitted, corrections may not be allowed unless RTU opens a specific correction window.
Step 3 — Document Upload, Choice Filling, and Locking
Upload scanned copies of all required documents (see the next section for the document checklist). After documents are uploaded and verified, you will get access to the choice filling module once it opens. This module is expected to open in the third week of July 2026 after the merit list is released.
In the choice filling module:
- Search for available institute-specialisation combinations from the seat matrix
- Add preferred options to your choice list in order of preference (most preferred at the top)
- You can add and rearrange choices until the locking deadline
- Lock your choices before the deadline — after locking, no changes are allowed for that round
You should fill as many choices as possible. A candidate who fills more options has a better chance of getting a seat even if their top preferences are unavailable. Do not limit yourself to only 2 or 3 choices.
After Round 1 allotment, candidates who are not satisfied with their allotted seat can revise their choices for the next round. This continues up to Round 4. Round 5 is a special round for vacant seats only, requiring an additional ₹10,000 commitment fee.

How is the RTU CAM 2026 Merit List Prepared?
RTU CAM 2026 does not conduct a separate written entrance examination. The merit list is the key document that decides which candidates get seats in which colleges and specialisations. Here is how RTU prepares the merit list:
For GATE Score Holders
- All candidates who have a valid GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 score are ranked in descending order of their GATE score in the relevant paper.
- GATE holders form a separate high-priority category in the merit list. They are considered for seat allotment before non-GATE candidates.
- You must have appeared in the GATE paper that matches your chosen M.Tech specialisation. For example, for M.Tech in Computer Science, your GATE CS (or DA) paper score is considered.
- In case of a tie in GATE score, the candidate with a higher aggregate percentage in the qualifying degree is ranked higher.
For Non-GATE Candidates
- Candidates without a GATE score are ranked in descending order of their aggregate percentage in the qualifying B.E. / B.Tech degree.
- Non-GATE candidates are ranked separately and are generally considered for seat allotment only after the GATE-based seats at an institute have been filled, or in later rounds where seats remain vacant.
- In case of a tie in aggregate percentage, RTU applies its tie-breaking criteria — typically, the candidate with higher marks in the qualifying degree year or higher age is ranked higher.
Provisional and Final Merit List
RTU releases a provisional merit list first. You can raise objections to the provisional merit list if you believe your rank has been calculated incorrectly. Objections are submitted online through tportu.in with supporting documents. After resolving objections, RTU publishes the final merit list, which is used for all five rounds of seat allotment.
The RTU CAM 2026 provisional merit list is expected in the second or third week of July 2026 — about 10 to 14 days after the registration closes on July 2, 2026.
RTU CAM 2026 Seat Reservation
RTU CAM 2026 follows the Rajasthan state government’s reservation policy. The category-wise reservation percentages applicable to seats in RTU-affiliated colleges are as follows:
| Category | Reservation Percentage |
|---|---|
| Scheduled Caste (SC) | 16% |
| Scheduled Tribe (ST) | 12% |
| Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non-Creamy Layer) | 21% |
| Economically Weaker Section (EWS) | 10% |
| Persons with Disabilities (PwD) | 5% (horizontal reservation across all categories) |
| General / Open | Remaining seats |
Horizontal reservation for PwD candidates is applicable across all vertical categories (General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS). This means a PwD SC candidate is counted within both the SC vertical reservation and the PwD horizontal reservation.
Candidates must submit valid, current category certificates at the time of document verification. Category certificates should be in the format prescribed by the Rajasthan government. You should check the seat matrix on tportu.in — once it is released — for category-wise seat availability at each institute and specialisation.
RTU CAM 2026 Counselling Process
RTU CAM 2026 uses a centralized online counselling process with 5 rounds of seat allotment. You do not need to visit any RTU office or counselling center in person — the entire process from choice filling to seat acceptance is done online at tportu.in.
Before Counselling Begins — Prepare Your Choices
- Check your rank in the final merit list once it is released.
- Study the seat matrix carefully — it shows available seats at each institute for each specialisation, category-wise.
- Based on your rank and previous year closing ranks (if available), shortlist realistic institute-specialisation options.
- Prepare a choice list with your most preferred options at the top and backup options below.
Round 1 and Round 2 — Initial Allotment
In Round 1, seats are allotted based on the choices you locked and your position in the merit list. After Round 1 allotment, you have the following options:
- Accept and freeze: Accept the allotted seat and opt out of further upgrades. Your seat is secured.
- Accept and float: Accept the allotted seat but allow the system to upgrade you to a higher-preference choice in Round 2, if a seat opens up. If an upgrade is available, the new allotment replaces the old one.
- Reject: Reject the allotted seat. You are then treated as unallotted and must compete again in Round 2 with revised choices.
Round 2 follows a similar structure, with fresh allotments for unallotted candidates and upgrades for float candidates from Round 1.
Rounds 3 and 4 — Revision and Re-allotment
Rounds 3 and 4 are conducted for seats that become vacant after Rounds 1 and 2. No additional fee is required to participate in Rounds 3 and 4. Unallotted candidates from earlier rounds are automatically included. You can modify your choice list between rounds to include or remove institutes based on your allotment status and available seats.
Round 5 — Special Vacant Seat Round
Round 5 is a special round held only for institutes that still have vacant seats after four rounds. To participate in Round 5, you must pay an additional commitment fee of ₹10,000 over and above your original registration fee. Round 5 is open to all eligible candidates, including first-time participants who did not register for earlier rounds. However, all normal eligibility criteria apply.
After Seat Allotment — College Reporting
Once you accept an allotted seat (freeze option), you must report to the allotted college within the specified reporting dates. Carry all original documents for verification. If you do not report by the deadline, your seat will be cancelled and offered to the next eligible candidate on the merit list. No refunds are given for non-reporting after seat acceptance.
RTU CAM 2026 Seat Allotment
RTU CAM 2026 seat allotment is conducted through 5 online rounds. RTU Kota publishes each round’s allotment result on tportu.in. Here is what to do after each allotment is declared:
- Log in to tportu.in with your application number to check your allotment status.
- If a seat is allotted to you, download the provisional seat allotment letter immediately.
- Choose your response — accept and freeze, accept and float, or reject — within the specified deadline after each round. Missing the response deadline means your allotment may be treated as rejected.
- If you accept and freeze, arrange to report to the allotted college on the specified reporting dates with all original documents.
- If you are unallotted in a round, wait for the next round and revise your choices to include more options.
RTU CAM 2026 Round 1 seat allotment is expected in the last week of July 2026. All five rounds are expected to be completed by the end of August 2026, after which final admissions at individual colleges will begin for the academic year 2026–27.
You should check tportu.in regularly after July 2, 2026, for merit list, seat matrix, and round-wise allotment results. RTU Kota also notifies candidates via the registered mobile number and email ID whenever allotment results are declared.
RTU CAM 2026 Cutoff
RTU CAM does not publish a pre-defined cutoff score before counselling. The closing GATE score or qualifying percentage for each institute and specialisation is determined only after all rounds of seat allotment are complete. The effective cutoff depends on the number of applicants, the choices filled, and the available seat matrix for that year.
The RTU CAM 2026 cutoff data will be available only after counselling rounds end, expected in August–September 2026. Until then, you can use the following factors to estimate the likely range:
Factors That Affect RTU CAM Cutoff
- GATE Score: For popular specialisations like Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, and Electrical Engineering, the closing GATE score is typically higher. For Civil, Agriculture, or Metallurgical Engineering specialisations, the closing score tends to be lower due to fewer applicants.
- Institute Type: Government engineering colleges (like MBM, GEC Ajmer, CTAE Udaipur) tend to have higher closing GATE scores than private RTU-affiliated colleges for the same specialisation, due to better fee structure and placements.
- Number of Applicants: More GATE qualifiers in a discipline means higher competition and a higher effective cutoff for popular institutes.
- Seat Availability: Institutes with more seats have lower effective cutoffs. Newly added specialisations may have lower cutoffs in their first few years.
- Category: SC, ST, OBC, and EWS category cutoffs are lower than the General category cutoff at the same institute and specialisation.
For Non-GATE Candidates
Non-GATE candidates are ranked by their aggregate percentage in B.E. / B.Tech. The effective cutoff for non-GATE candidates is typically in the range of 60%–75% at popular government colleges, and can be lower at private RTU-affiliated colleges with more vacant seats. Non-GATE candidates generally get better options in Rounds 3, 4, and 5 after GATE-based allotments are exhausted.
RTU CAM 2026 cutoff data will be updated here once the official allotment results are declared after all counselling rounds.
Top Colleges Accepting RTU CAM 2026
RTU CAM 2026 covers admission to M.Tech and M.Arch programmes at government, autonomous, and private RTU-affiliated colleges across Rajasthan. The complete list of participating institutes and their seat matrix is published on tportu.in before counselling begins. Here are some of the major institutes that typically participate in RTU CAM:
| Institute | Location | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) | Kota | State Technical University |
| MBM University (formerly MBM Engineering College) | Jodhpur | Government |
| Government Engineering College (MPEC) | Ajmer | Government |
| Government Engineering College | Bikaner | Government |
| Government Engineering College | Jhalawar | Government |
| College of Technology and Agricultural Engineering (CTAE) | Udaipur | Government |
| Poornima University | Jaipur | Private |
| JECRC University | Jaipur | Private |
| Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre | Jaipur | Private |
| Pacific University | Udaipur | Private |
| Amity University Rajasthan | Jaipur | Private |
Note: MNIT Jaipur and BITS Pilani are NOT part of RTU CAM. They have their own independent admission processes. MNIT Jaipur takes admissions through CCMT, and BITS Pilani takes admissions through BITS HD / GATE-based process.
Government RTU-affiliated colleges in Rajasthan are generally the most competitive, with lower fees and better placement records. If you have a strong GATE score, you should prioritise government colleges in your choice list. Private RTU-affiliated colleges offer more seats and are a good option if your GATE score or aggregate percentage is in the moderate range.
The complete seat matrix for RTU CAM 2026 — showing the number of seats at each institute for each M.Tech specialisation, broken down by category — will be published on tportu.in before counselling begins. You should study the seat matrix carefully before filling your choices.
RTU CAM 2026 M.Tech Specialisations
RTU CAM 2026 covers a wide range of M.Tech specialisations across major engineering disciplines, as well as M.Arch in Urban Design. The availability of a specific specialisation depends on the institute — not all colleges offer all specialisations. Here are the common M.Tech specialisations available through RTU CAM-participating colleges:
| Engineering Discipline | Common M.Tech Specialisations Offered |
|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | Computer Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | Digital Electronics and Communication Systems, VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing |
| Mechanical Engineering | Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Manufacturing Engineering and Technology |
| Civil Engineering | Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Technology and Management, Geotechnical Engineering |
| Electrical Engineering | Power Systems and Control, Electrical Power Engineering, Control and Instrumentation Engineering |
| Architecture (M.Arch) | Urban Design (RTU Kota only – 20 seats) |
You must choose a specialisation that is relevant to your undergraduate engineering background. If your B.E. is in Electronics and Communication, you should apply for M.Tech in ECE-related specialisations. Cross-discipline applications (for example, a B.E. in Electrical Engineering applying for M.Tech in Computer Science) are allowed in some cases depending on the GATE paper, but you should verify eligibility from the official seat matrix before filling choices.
For M.Arch, only RTU Kota itself offers the programme in Urban Design. Eligibility is a B.Arch degree with at least 50% aggregate marks. With only 20 seats and limited applicants historically, M.Arch at RTU Kota is a relatively accessible option for B.Arch graduates in Rajasthan who want to pursue postgraduate studies in architecture.
Preparation Tips for RTU CAM 2026
RTU CAM 2026 does not involve a written examination. If you are a GATE 2026 qualifier, your score is fixed. If you are a non-GATE candidate, your aggregate UG marks are your merit. The preparation for RTU CAM is less about studying and more about strategy — how you use your GATE score or marks to get the best possible college and specialisation through the counselling process.
If You Have a GATE Score
- Research previous year closing GATE scores for the institutes and specialisations you want. This will help you shortlist realistic and competitive options.
- Fill as many choices as possible in the choice filling module. More choices means more options and a lower risk of being unallotted after all rounds.
- Prioritise government RTU-affiliated colleges over private ones in your choice list if your GATE score is competitive — government colleges generally have lower fees, better infrastructure, and stronger placement records.
- Include backup options in your choice list, not just your top-3 picks. You should include institutes from different cities and different specialisations (where eligible) to ensure you have alternatives.
- Do not freeze your seat in Round 1 if you are confident of getting a better option in subsequent rounds. Use the float option to try for an upgrade while keeping the current allotment as a fallback.
If You Are a Non-GATE Candidate
- Your aggregate marks in B.E. / B.Tech are your primary asset. If your aggregate is above 70%, you have a reasonable chance of getting a seat at private RTU-affiliated colleges in popular specialisations.
- Non-GATE candidates generally compete for seats in Rounds 3, 4, and 5, after GATE-based allotments are done. Fill choices that include institutes with more seats and lower historical demand.
- Consider appearing for GATE 2027 if you miss out on your preferred college this year. A GATE score opens doors to both RTU CAM and CCMT (national-level M.Tech admissions at NITs and IIITs) and comes with a scholarship of ₹12,400 per month during M.Tech (for GATE scholars in government-funded institutes).
General Application Tips
- Complete your registration before July 2, 2026. Do not wait for the final hour — technical issues on the last day of registration are common on high-traffic portals.
- Keep all scanned documents ready before you start filling the application form. This saves time and avoids uploading errors.
- Verify all entries in your application — especially your category, GATE score, and aggregate percentage — before final submission. Errors here affect your merit rank directly.
- After registering, monitor tportu.in and your registered email and mobile daily. RTU sends important notifications about merit lists, seat matrices, and allotment results through these channels.
- If you are allotted a seat and plan to report to college, arrange for your original documents, fee demand draft (if required), and medical fitness certificate in advance so you do not miss the reporting deadline.
