PPMET 2026 (Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, for admission to the 4-year B.Sc Nursing programme at 130+ affiliated nursing colleges across Punjab. The exam was held on 7 June 2026 and the result was declared on 12 June 2026. Round 1 counselling is currently underway — choice filling closes tomorrow (3 July 2026) and the provisional seat allotment is expected in the second week of July 2026.

  • Round 1 Choice Filling Deadline: The last day to fill and lock college preferences for PPMET 2026 Round 1 counselling is 3 July 2026. Candidates who have registered for counselling but not yet locked their choices must do so before this deadline — missing it means losing eligibility for Round 1 seat allotment entirely.
  • Round 1 Seat Allotment: PPMET 2026 Round 1 provisional seat allotment is expected in the second week of July 2026 (around 10–14 July). In 2025, the Round 1 provisional allotment was released on 9 July. It has not been released yet as of 2 July 2026 — check bfuhs.ac.in once the choice filling window closes.
  • Round 1 Reporting Deadline: Candidates who receive a seat in Round 1 must report to their allotted college between 15–22 July 2026 with original documents and the admission fee. Missing this reporting window means permanent forfeiture of the allotted seat, which then goes back into Round 2.
  • Round 2 Counselling: Round 2 is expected to begin in the last week of July 2026, after Round 1 reporting closes around 22 July. All vacant seats from Round 1 will be redistributed. Around 5,400 B.Sc Nursing seats across 130+ BFUHS-affiliated colleges are available through PPMET 2026.

What is PPMET 2026?

PPMET stands for Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test. It is a state-level entrance exam conducted once a year by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. The exam is the gateway for admission to the 4-year B.Sc Nursing programme at government and private nursing colleges affiliated with BFUHS across Punjab.

PPMET is held in offline (OMR-based) mode and has 100 multiple-choice questions spread across five subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Nursing Aptitude — each worth 1 mark, for a total of 100 marks. The exam lasts 2 hours and is conducted in English. There is no negative marking for wrong answers, but a unique OMR rule applies: any question left blank without marking Option E incurs a 1-mark deduction.

More than 130 nursing colleges in Punjab are affiliated with BFUHS, together offering around 5,400 B.Sc Nursing seats. About 85% of seats fall under the Punjab state quota for candidates with a valid Punjab Domicile Certificate. The remaining 15% are management or All India quota seats available to all-state candidates. Admissions are merit-based, followed by centralized online counselling conducted by BFUHS.

  • Subject-wise marks and total marks obtained out of 100
  • Overall rank in the merit list
  • Category-wise rank
  • Qualifying status (Eligible or Not Eligible for counselling)

PPMET 2026 Tie-Breaking Rules

When two candidates score the same total marks, BFUHS uses this order to decide who gets the higher rank:

  • First tiebreaker: Higher marks in Biology
  • Second tiebreaker: Higher marks in Chemistry
  • Third tiebreaker: The older candidate (by date of birth) gets the better rank

This makes Biology the most strategically important subject — it carries the most weight in tiebreaking, beyond just its direct contribution to the total score.

PPMET 2026 Cutoff

BFUHS sets the PPMET qualifying cutoff as a percentile-based threshold. Clearing the qualifying cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling — the actual closing rank at each college is the admission cutoff, and it varies widely between government and private colleges.

PPMET 2026 Qualifying Cutoff

Category Qualifying Percentile Approximate Marks (out of 100)
General (Unreserved) 50th percentile ~49 marks
SC / ST / OBC 40th percentile ~41 marks
General — PwD 45th percentile ~45 marks
SC / ST / OBC — PwD 40th percentile ~41 marks

The approximate marks shown above are indicative. Exact cutoff marks depend on the score distribution in the official PPMET 2026 merit list.

PPMET Previous Year Qualifying Marks Reference

Category PPMET 2025 Qualifying Marks (out of 100)
General 44 marks
OBC 41 marks
SC 41 marks
PwD 40 marks

Qualifying Cutoff vs Admission Cutoff

The qualifying cutoff tells you if you can participate in counselling — it is a low bar set to screen out non-serious candidates. The admission cutoff is the closing rank at which the last seat fills in a specific college during a specific round. These two numbers are very different:

  • Government college seats typically close in Round 1 at highly competitive ranks (within the top 500–1,000)
  • Private college seats remain available through multiple rounds at a much wider rank range
  • Candidates with ranks above 3,000 can still get seats in private colleges in later rounds

Factors That Affect the PPMET Cutoff

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher exam brings raw scores down, lowering the qualifying mark
  • Total candidates who appeared: A larger candidate pool pushes the percentile-based cutoff marks higher
  • Total seats available: Any increase in sanctioned seats can ease the competition slightly
  • Category reservation: SC/ST/OBC candidates have a lower qualifying threshold (40th percentile vs 50th for General)

PPMET 2026 Counselling

BFUHS conducts PPMET 2026 counselling entirely online at bfuhs.ac.in. Only candidates who appear in the PPMET 2026 merit list (scored at or above the qualifying percentile) can register. Counselling runs in 3 to 5 rounds to fill all available seats — candidates not allotted a seat in an earlier round are eligible for subsequent rounds.

Who Can Participate in PPMET 2026 Counselling?

  • General category candidates who scored at or above the 50th percentile in PPMET 2026
  • SC / ST / OBC / PwD candidates who scored at or above the 40th percentile
  • Candidates with a valid Punjab Domicile Certificate are eligible for the 85% state quota seats
  • Candidates without Punjab domicile can apply only for 15% management or All India quota seats in private colleges

PPMET 2026 Counselling Process — Step by Step

  • Step 1 — Register for Counselling: Visit bfuhs.ac.in and complete counselling registration. The ₹1,000 counselling fee was already included in the application fee paid at the time of form submission.

PPMET 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment

As of 2 July 2026, the PPMET 2026 Round 1 provisional seat allotment has not yet been released. The Round 1 choice filling window closes on 3 July 2026. Once it closes, BFUHS will process all entries and publish the provisional allotment. Based on last year — when Round 1 provisional allotment was released on 9 July 2025 — the 2026 allotment is expected around 10–14 July 2026.

The Round 2 schedule has also not been announced by BFUHS yet. It is tentatively expected in the last week of July 2026, after Round 1 reporting closes around 22 July.

How to Check PPMET 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment (Once Released)

  • Visit bfuhs.ac.in and look for the PPMET 2026 Seat Allotment or Counselling link
  • Log in with your counselling registration number and password
  • Check if a seat has been allotted — if yes, download and print the allotment letter immediately
  • Follow all instructions in the allotment letter regarding reporting deadline, fee payment, and documents

What the PPMET 2026 Allotment Letter Contains

  • Candidate name, merit rank, and category
  • Name and address of the allotted nursing college
  • Reporting dates and instructions
  • Documents to be submitted at the college
  • Admission fee amount to be paid at the college counter

What to Do After Round 1 Allotment

  • If satisfied with the allotted college: Report within 15–22 July 2026, submit original documents, and pay the admission fee to confirm your seat
  • If you want to try for a better college: Check BFUHS round-specific rules on whether your Round 1 seat is retained or released if you participate in Round 2 — this is specified in the official counselling notification
  • If not allotted in Round 1: You are automatically eligible for Round 2 — no fresh registration is typically needed unless BFUHS specifies otherwise

Choice Filling Tips

PPMET 2026 Exam Pattern

The PPMET 2026 exam was held on 7 June 2026 in offline (OMR-based) mode. It had 100 multiple-choice questions equally split across five subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Nursing Aptitude. Each question carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers, but a unique OMR rule makes blanks costly.

PPMET OMR Rule: If you want to skip a question, mark Option E on the OMR sheet for that row. Any row left completely blank (no option darkened, not even Option E) results in a deduction of 1 mark. Do not leave any OMR row empty — if you skip, mark E.

Subject-Wise Question Distribution

Subject Number of Questions Total Marks
Physics 20 20
Chemistry 20 20
Biology 20 20
English 20 20
Nursing Aptitude 20 20
Total 100 100

PPMET 2026 Exam Pattern Summary

How to Choose the Right College

  • Clinical training quality: Colleges attached to large government or multi-specialty hospitals provide better clinical postings, which are central to B.Sc Nursing training
  • Fee structure: Government college fees are very low (a few thousand rupees per year); private college fees range from ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh or more per year
  • Location and hostel: Nursing programmes require daily college attendance for clinical rotations — check hostel availability and proximity to the teaching hospital before finalizing
  • INC recognition: Ensure the college is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and affiliated with BFUHS for your degree to be valid

PPMET 2026 Preparation Tips

PPMET tests five subjects with equal weightage of 20 marks each — unlike most medical entrance exams where Biology dominates. You cannot afford to neglect any subject. These tips are most useful for students preparing for PPMET 2027 or for future nursing entrance exams.

Subject-Wise Strategy

  • Biology (20 marks): Most nursing aspirants find this their strongest subject. Read NCERT Biology Class 11 and 12 thoroughly — most PPMET Biology questions are directly NCERT-based. Focus on human physiology (most questions come from here), genetics, reproduction, and biotechnology.
  • Chemistry (20 marks): Cover organic chemistry reactions and mechanisms, physical chemistry numericals, and important inorganic chapters (periodic table, s-block, p-block). NCERT Chemistry Class 11 and 12 is your primary resource.
  • Physics (20 marks): Focus on conceptual clarity over derivations. High-priority topics: optics, electrostatics, thermodynamics, and modern physics. Practice at least 10–15 numericals per chapter to build speed.
  • English (20 marks): This is typically the most scoring section. Daily practice of grammar rules, vocabulary, and one reading passage should be enough. Focus on common error patterns in sentence correction and subject-verb agreement.
  • Nursing Aptitude (20 marks): No prior clinical knowledge is needed — this section tests reasoning and numerical ability. Practice number series, data interpretation, and basic logical reasoning. Scenario-based questions can be answered with common sense and general health awareness.

Study Plan Recommendations

  • Complete NCERT textbooks (Class 11 and 12) for all three science subjects before moving to reference books
  • Make short chapter-wise notes for revision in the final two weeks before the exam
  • Solve 50–100 previous year PPMET questions per subject to understand the question style and difficulty level
  • Take full-length timed mock tests (100 questions in 2 hours) at least 4–6 weeks before the exam
  • Revise all NCERT Biology diagrams and labelled figures — these appear directly in PPMET questions

Exam Day Tips

  • Start with your strongest subject to build confidence and momentum
  • Do not spend more than 90 seconds on any single question — skip and return if needed
  • Since there is no negative marking for wrong answers, attempt all 100 questions
  • In the last 5 minutes, check every OMR row — ensure Option E is marked for any question you skipped; a blank row costs 1 mark

FAQs on PPMET 2026

Ques. What is PPMET 2026?

Ans. PPMET 2026 (Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, for admission to the 4-year B.Sc Nursing programme at 130+ affiliated colleges in Punjab. The exam was held on 7 June 2026, and the result was declared on 12 June 2026. Counselling is currently underway, with Round 1 seat allotment expected in the second week of July 2026.

Ques. Has the PPMET 2026 Round 1 seat allotment been released?

Ans. No. As of 2 July 2026, the PPMET 2026 Round 1 provisional seat allotment has not been released by BFUHS. The Round 1 choice filling window closes on 3 July 2026. Based on the 2025 pattern — when the provisional allotment was released on 9 July 2025 — the 2026 allotment is expected around 10–14 July 2026. Check bfuhs.ac.in regularly for the official result.

Ques. What is the PPMET 2026 qualifying cutoff marks?

Ans. The PPMET 2026 qualifying cutoff is percentile-based: the 50th percentile for General category (approximately 49 marks out of 100) and the 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC/PwD (approximately 41 marks). In 2025, the General category qualifying mark was 44 out of 100. Clearing the qualifying cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling — securing a government college seat requires a much higher rank.

Ques. Is there negative marking in PPMET 2026?

Ans. No, there is no negative marking for wrong answers in PPMET 2026. However, there is a unique OMR rule: if you skip a question, you must darken Option E on the OMR sheet for that row. Any row left completely blank — without marking Option E — results in a deduction of 1 mark. To be safe, attempt all questions and mark Option E for every question you choose to skip.

Ques. What are the PPMET 2026 eligibility criteria?

Ans. You must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as individual subjects from a recognized board. Minimum aggregate in PCB: 45% for General category and 40% for SC/ST/BC candidates. You must be at least 17 years old as of 31 December 2026, and generally not more than 25 years. A Punjab Domicile Certificate is required for state quota seats (85% of total seats).

Ques. How many seats are available under PPMET 2026?

Ans. Around 5,400 B.Sc Nursing seats are available across 130+ BFUHS-affiliated nursing colleges in Punjab under PPMET 2026. About 85% of these seats (state quota) are reserved for candidates with a valid Punjab Domicile Certificate. The remaining 15% (management and All India quota) are open to candidates from all states.

Ques. What does the PPMET 2026 exam pattern look like?

Ans. PPMET 2026 is an offline OMR-based exam with 100 MCQs across five subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Nursing Aptitude — 20 questions each. Total marks are 100 (1 mark per correct answer). Exam duration is 2 hours. There is no negative marking for wrong answers, but unanswered questions must have Option E marked on the OMR to avoid a 1-mark deduction per blank row.

Ques. What documents are required for PPMET 2026 counselling reporting?

Ques. How many rounds are there in PPMET 2026 counselling?

Ans. PPMET counselling is typically conducted in 3 to 5 rounds. Seats that go vacant after each round — because allotted candidates did not report — are redistributed in the next round. Candidates not allotted a seat in earlier rounds are automatically eligible for subsequent rounds. BFUHS announces the schedule for each round separately at bfuhs.ac.in.

Ques. Can candidates from outside Punjab apply for PPMET 2026?

Ans. Yes, candidates from other states can apply for PPMET 2026. However, they can only compete for the 15% management and All India quota seats in private BFUHS-affiliated colleges. The 85% state quota seats are exclusively for Punjab domicile holders. The same academic eligibility (Class 12 with PCB and English, minimum 45% in PCB for General) applies to all candidates regardless of state.

Ques. Who topped PPMET 2026?

Ans. Mannat Kahlon secured the top rank (Rank 1) in the PPMET 2026 merit list. The result was declared on 12 June 2026, five days after the exam. You can check your own rank and scorecard by logging in with your application number and password at bfuhs.ac.in. The scorecard shows subject-wise marks, total marks out of 100, overall merit rank, category rank, and qualifying status for counselling.

Ques. What is the PPMET 2026 application fee?

Ans. The PPMET 2026 application fee was ₹4,540 for General category candidates and ₹2,770 for SC category candidates (both figures include GST and a ₹1,000 counselling fee). The fee was paid online at bfuhs.ac.in and was non-refundable. The application window (27 April to 25 May 2026) is now closed — it will reopen for PPMET 2027 around April 2027.
