KLEE 2026 (Kerala Law Entrance Exam) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, for admission to 3-year LLB, 5-year integrated LLB, and LLM programmes across government and private law colleges in Kerala. Registration for KLEE 2026 closed on June 17, 2026, and the admit card is expected to be released on June 24, 2026 — with the exam scheduled for June 28, 2026 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across six cities in Kerala.

  • Admit Card: The KLEE 2026 admit card is expected on June 24, 2026 — just 4 days before the exam. Download it from cee.kerala.gov.in as soon as it is available and carry a coloured printout to the exam centre; black-and-white printouts are not accepted.
  • Exam Date: KLEE 2026 will be held on June 28, 2026 (Sunday) in CBT mode. The 5-year LLB exam runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the 3-year LLB exam runs from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM across six Kerala cities.
  • Answer Key: The provisional answer key for KLEE 2026 is expected in the first week of July 2026. In 2025, the answer key was released within a few days of the exam, and candidates had a short objection window before the final key was published.
  • Result: KLEE 2026 result is expected on or before July 15, 2026 (3-year LLB) and July 16, 2026 (5-year LLB). In 2025, the rank list was declared on June 19, 2025 — about 18 days after the June 1 exam — following a similar pattern.

What is KLEE 2026?

KLEE stands for Kerala Law Entrance Exam. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, conducts KLEE every year for admission to law programmes at government and private law colleges in the state. KLEE 2026 covers three programmes — 3-year LLB, 5-year integrated LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB), and LLM.

The exam is a Computer-Based Test with 120 multiple-choice questions for a total of 360 marks. More than 4,000 seats are available across both LLB programmes. KLEE is the only gateway for admission to government law colleges in Kerala — if you want a seat there, you must appear for KLEE and rank in the merit list.

KLEE is different from national law entrance tests like CLAT or AILET. It focuses exclusively on Kerala’s law colleges and follows Kerala’s community-based reservation system. Candidates from any state in India can appear, but community-based reservation benefits are available only to candidates with Kerala origin.

5-Year Integrated LLB

If you want to pursue a 5-year BA LLB, BBA LLB, or B.Com LLB programme, you must have cleared 10+2 with at least 45% marks (General), 42% (SEBC), or 40% (SC/ST) from a recognised board. You need to be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026. There is no upper age limit.

3-Year LLB

For the 3-year LLB programme, you need to be a graduate in any stream from a recognised university with at least 45% marks (General), 42% (SEBC), or 40% (SC/ST). There is no upper age limit. Final-year graduation students can apply but must submit the degree certificate at the time of college reporting — failing to do so cancels the admission.

LLM

For the LLM programme, you must hold an LLB degree (3-year or 5-year integrated) with a minimum of 50% marks (General/SEBC) or 45% (SC/ST). There is no age limit.

Reservation and Kerala Origin

KLEE uses Kerala’s community-based reservation system. To claim a reserved category seat, you need Kerala origin and a valid community certificate issued by a competent authority. Candidates from outside Kerala can only compete under the State Merit (SM) quota — they are not eligible for community-based reservations such as SEBC, SC, or ST.

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for KLEE 2026. NRI and foreign national admissions follow a separate process outside the KLEE rank list.

KLEE 2026 Application Process and Fee

KLEE 2026 registration was open from June 10 to June 17, 2026 (5:00 PM). The process was entirely online through the CEE Kerala official website. The registration window for KLEE is very short — in 2025, it was open for only 12 days. If you have already registered, your application number and password will be used to download the admit card and check your result.

KLEE 2026 registration is now closed. The last date was June 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM. If you missed registration this year, you will need to wait for KLEE 2027.

Section-wise Question Distribution — LLB (Based on KLEE 2025 Paper)

KLEE 2025 was held on June 1, 2025. The following section-wise distribution was observed in the 2025 paper and the same pattern is expected for 2026:

Section Questions Marks Weightage
Aptitude for Legal Studies 42 126 35%
General English 36 108 30%
General Knowledge 27 81 22.5%
Arithmetic and Mental Ability 15 45 12.5%
Total 120 360 100%

Aptitude for Legal Studies carries the highest weightage at 35% — this section can make or break your KLEE score. In 2025, the General Knowledge section was rated the most difficult by candidates, while Arithmetic and Mental Ability was rated easy to moderate.

KLEE LLM Exam Pattern

The LLM entrance test is a separate exam with a two-part structure:

  • Part A (1.5 hours, 100 questions, 300 marks): Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Law of Contracts (25 questions each)
  • Part B (1.5 hours, 100 questions, 300 marks): Law of Torts, Company Law, Administrative Law, Law of Property, Public International Law, Interpretation of Statutes

Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer earns +3 marks
  • Each wrong answer deducts 1 mark
  • No mark is deducted for questions left unattempted
  • Qualifying cutoff: 36 marks (10%) for General/SEBC; 18 marks (5%) for SC/ST

KLEE 2026 Syllabus

The KLEE 2026 LLB syllabus covers four sections. Aptitude for Legal Studies carries the highest weight, followed by General English and General Knowledge. Here is what to study in each section for KLEE 2026:

Section 1 — Aptitude for Legal Studies (42 Questions, 35% Weightage)

This section tests your ability to apply basic legal principles to real situations and your awareness of Indian law. You do not need formal law training — the questions are designed around reasoning skills and fundamental legal awareness.

  • Constitutional law — Fundamental Rights (Articles 12–35), Directive Principles (Part IV), Preamble, and Amendment procedure
  • Law of Torts — negligence, nuisance, strict liability, and vicarious liability
  • Law of Contracts — offer and acceptance, consideration, void and voidable agreements, and breach of contract
  • Criminal law — IPC definitions, general exceptions, and key offences against persons and property
  • Legal reasoning — applying a stated legal rule to a given fact situation (principle-based questions, similar to CLAT)
  • Argument analysis — identifying stronger or weaker legal arguments
  • Legal awareness — landmark Supreme Court judgments and recent legal developments

Section 2 — General English (36 Questions, 30% Weightage)

The English section was rated moderate in KLEE 2025. Candidates who practise regularly can score 25–32 out of 36. Topics include:

  • Reading comprehension passages — main idea, inference, and vocabulary-in-context questions
  • Vocabulary — synonyms, antonyms, and one-word substitutions
  • Idioms and phrases — meaning and correct usage
  • Sentence correction — spotting grammatical errors
  • Para-jumbles — arranging sentences in the correct logical order
  • Fill in the blanks — correct prepositions, conjunctions, and word choices
  • Grammar rules — tenses, articles, subject-verb agreement, and active/passive voice

Section 3 — General Knowledge (27 Questions, 22.5% Weightage)

The GK section was the toughest in KLEE 2025, with many specific and obscure questions. Cover both current affairs and static GK:

  • Current affairs — national and international events from the last 12 months, with emphasis on legal and judiciary news
  • History of India and Kerala — freedom movement, major historical events, and important personalities
  • Indian Constitution and governance — structure of government, recent amendments, and policy changes
  • Geography — India and world geography, both physical and political
  • Science and technology — space missions, recent innovations, and government science initiatives
  • Sports — major tournaments, Kerala sports achievements, and award winners
  • Art, culture, and literature — with specific focus on Kerala traditions and personalities
  • Government schemes and policies — especially those related to law, justice, and social welfare

Section 4 — Arithmetic and Mental Ability (15 Questions, 12.5% Weightage)

This section was easy to moderate in KLEE 2025 — regular practice can help you score full marks here:

  • Percentage, profit and loss, simple and compound interest
  • Ratio and proportion, time and work, time and distance
  • Mensuration — area, perimeter, and volume of basic shapes
  • Number systems and simplification
  • Series completion and number analogy
  • Blood relations and direction sense
  • Coding-decoding
  • Data interpretation using basic tables and bar graphs

KLEE LLM Syllabus (Separate Exam)

The LLM entrance exam tests advanced law subject knowledge. Part A covers Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Law of Contracts (25 questions each). Part B covers Law of Torts, Company Law, Administrative Law, Law of Property, Public International Law, and Interpretation of Statutes. LLM candidates should prepare using their LLB curriculum and standard law textbooks.

KLEE 2026 Answer Key

The KLEE 2026 provisional answer key is expected in the first week of July 2026, a few days after the exam on June 28, 2026. CEE Kerala publishes the answer key on the official portal so candidates can verify their responses and estimate their expected score before the result is declared.

Provisional vs Final Answer Key

  • Provisional Answer Key: Released first. Candidates can check and raise objections if they believe any answer is incorrect
  • Challenge Window: CEE Kerala gives a short window — usually 2 to 3 days — to raise objections by paying a challenge fee online per question
  • Final Answer Key: Released in the second week of July 2026 after reviewing all objections. The rank list and result are prepared based only on the final answer key

How to Check KLEE 2026 Answer Key

  • Visit cee.kerala.gov.in after July 1, 2026
  • Click on the KLEE 2026 answer key link for the relevant programme
  • The answer key is available as a downloadable PDF with question-wise correct options
  • Cross-check your responses and calculate your expected score

How to Estimate Your KLEE 2026 Score

You can estimate your score using this formula once the answer key is released:

  • Expected Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 3) − (Number of Wrong Answers × 1)
  • Example: 80 attempts, 65 correct, 15 wrong → Score = (65 × 3) − (15 × 1) = 195 − 15 = 180 marks
  • Unattempted questions carry no penalty — do not include them in the calculation

KLEE 2026 Result and Rank List

CEE Kerala will declare the KLEE 2026 result as a merit-based rank list — not as individual mark sheets. Your position in this rank list determines your eligibility for counselling and your chances of getting a seat in a preferred college. The KLEE 2026 result is expected on or before July 15, 2026 (3-year LLB) and July 16, 2026 (5-year LLB).

In KLEE 2025, the rank list was declared on June 19, 2025 — about 18 days after the June 1 exam. For 2026, with the exam on June 28, a result by mid-July follows the same pattern.

What the KLEE 2026 Rank List Contains

  • Candidate’s name and application number
  • Roll number
  • Total score obtained
  • Overall merit rank (programme-wise)
  • Category rank (for SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, and other reserved categories)

Qualifying Marks for KLEE 2026

To appear in the merit list, you must score at least the minimum qualifying marks. These thresholds are very low — the real competition is for top ranks to secure government law college seats:

Category Qualifying Percentage Minimum Marks (out of 360)
General / SEBC 10% 36 marks
SC / ST 5% 18 marks

In KLEE 2025, candidates who ranked within the top 200 in the SM (General) category generally secured seats in government law colleges for the 3-year LLB programme. The actual marks needed to achieve a top-200 rank depend on overall paper difficulty and topper scores that year.

How to Check KLEE 2026 Result

  • Go to cee.kerala.gov.in after the result announcement
  • Click on "Three Year LL.B 2026" or "Five Year LL.B 2026" portal link
  • Log in with your application number and password
  • View your rank, marks, and category rank on your candidate portal
  • Download and save your rank card

KLEE Result Timeline — Year-wise Reference

Year Exam Date Rank List Declared Days After Exam
2025 June 1, 2025 June 19, 2025 18 days
2026 June 28, 2026 On or before July 15–16, 2026 ~17–18 days (expected)

KLEE 2026 Cutoff

The KLEE 2026 cutoff is the closing rank at which a seat is allotted in each college and programme during each counselling round. The actual 2026 cutoff will only be known after counselling concludes. Until then, KLEE 2025 closing ranks serve as the most reliable planning reference.

The KLEE cutoff depends on:

  • Total number of qualified candidates in the rank list
  • Overall paper difficulty and score distribution
  • Seats available in each college and programme
  • Candidate preferences submitted during option registration
  • Category-wise reservation distribution

KLEE 2025 Cutoff — 3-Year LLB, Government Colleges (Round 1)

College SM — General EZ — Ezhava SC ST
Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram 138 282 448 691
Government Law College, Ernakulam 184 411 826 1,161
Government Law College, Kozhikode 285
Government Law College, Thrissur ~300

These are closing ranks (lower number = more competitive). SM = State Merit/General; EZ = Ezhava.

KLEE 2025 Cutoff — 5-Year LLB, Government Colleges (Round 1, SM Category)

College Programme SM Closing Rank (2025)
Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram BA LLB (Hons) 239
Government Law College, Ernakulam B.Com LLB (Hons) 148
Government Law College, Thrissur BBA LLB (Hons) 361
Government Law College, Kozhikode BBA LLB (Hons) 368

Source: CEE Kerala — 2025 Allotment Data

KLEE Cutoff Trend — 2024 vs 2025 (SM Category, 3-Year LLB)

College 2024 Closing Rank 2025 Closing Rank Trend
Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram 89 138 More competitive
Government Law College, Ernakulam 156 184 More competitive

Government law college cutoffs became moderately more competitive from 2024 to 2025. A similar or slightly tighter trend is expected for KLEE 2026. If you aim for a government law college under the SM (General) category for 3-year LLB, target a rank within the top 200. Private colleges accept much higher closing ranks, making them accessible to a broader range of candidates.

KLEE 2026 admission cutoff will only be released after counselling concludes in August–September 2026. All figures above are from 2025 and are provided for reference planning only.

KLEE 2026 Counselling Process

KLEE 2026 counselling will be conducted entirely online through the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) by CEE Kerala after the rank list is published in mid-July 2026. Seats are allotted in multiple rounds based on merit rank, reservation category, and candidate preferences. In 2025, the first round allotment was published on July 29, 2025 — a similar timeline is expected for 2026.

Steps in KLEE 2026 Counselling

  • Step 1 — Register for CAP: Qualified candidates log in to the CEE portal and register separately for the counselling process after the rank list is published
  • Step 2 — Option Registration (College Preferences): Submit a ranked list of preferred colleges and courses within the given window. Choose carefully — your preferences directly determine your allotment
  • Step 3 — Seat Allotment: CEE Kerala allots seats based on your KLEE rank, category, and submitted preferences. The allotment list is published on the portal
  • Step 4 — Fee Payment: Allotted candidates pay the confirmation fee online within the deadline to lock in the seat
  • Step 5 — College Reporting: Report to the allotted college within the specified deadline with all original documents for verification and formal admission

Counselling Rounds

  • Round 1: Main allotment — most government college seats are filled in this round
  • Round 2: Fills vacancies from Round 1 withdrawals and non-reporting candidates. In 2025, Round 2 admission deadline was August 16, 2025
  • Mop-Up Round: Final round to fill remaining vacant seats across all colleges

Seat Reservation in KLEE Counselling

Category Seat Share
State Merit (SM) — Open to all eligible candidates 60%
SEBC (Ezhava, Muslim, Latin Catholic, and other notified communities) 30%
Scheduled Caste (SC) 8%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) 2%
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) 5% horizontal reservation (across all categories)

Documents Required for KLEE 2026 Counselling

  • KLEE 2026 rank card and scorecard
  • 10th mark sheet (date of birth proof)
  • 10+2 or graduation mark sheets and pass certificates (as applicable)
  • Category certificate — SEBC, SC, ST, or EWS (if applicable), issued by competent authority
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last attended institution
  • Conduct certificate from the last institution
  • Aadhaar card or other valid photo ID proof
  • Passport-size photographs (recent, colour)

Community-based reservations (SEBC, SC, ST) apply only to candidates with Kerala origin who hold a valid Kerala community certificate. Candidates from other states compete only under the State Merit (SM) quota.

KLEE 2026 counselling dates are not yet announced. They are expected in August 2026 after the result in mid-July. Keep checking cee.kerala.gov.in for the official schedule.

Top Law Colleges Accepting KLEE 2026 Score

Around 30 government and private law colleges in Kerala admit students through the KLEE rank list. Government law colleges see the highest competition because they offer subsidised fees and strong standing in Kerala’s legal community. Here are the top colleges you can target with a good KLEE 2026 rank:

Government Law Colleges (Most Competitive)

College Location Programmes
Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram 3-Year LLB, 5-Year BA LLB (Hons), LLM
Government Law College Ernakulam (Kochi) 3-Year LLB, 5-Year B.Com LLB (Hons), LLM
Government Law College Thrissur 3-Year LLB, 5-Year BBA LLB (Hons), LLM
Government Law College Kozhikode 3-Year LLB, 5-Year BBA LLB (Hons), LLM

Notable Private Law Colleges Accepting KLEE

College Location
Sree Narayana Guru College of Legal Studies Kollam
Mar Gregorios College of Law Thiruvananthapuram
CSI Institute of Legal Studies Parassala, Thiruvananthapuram
Al Azhar Law College Thodupuzha, Idukki
Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies Thrikkakara, Ernakulam
KMCT College of Law Kozhikode
St. Joseph’s College of Law Thiruvananthapuram

Total Seats Available Through KLEE 2026

Programme Approximate Total Seats
5-Year LLB (BA LLB / B.Com LLB / BBA LLB) 3,120 seats
3-Year LLB 1,110 seats

The four government law colleges together have fewer than 500 seats across all programmes combined. The remaining seats are in private colleges — which explains why government law college closing ranks are significantly more competitive than private colleges.

How to Choose the Right College

  • Check the 2025 closing ranks for colleges you are interested in and compare with your expected 2026 rank
  • Government colleges have a significantly lower fee structure — often under Rs. 10,000 per year — compared to private colleges
  • The 5-year LLB offers specialisation options (BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB) — pick based on your undergraduate subject interest
  • Consider location and infrastructure along with rank cutoff when filling your CAP preferences

KLEE 2026 Preparation Tips

With the KLEE 2026 exam on June 28, 2026 — just 5 days away — these last-minute and overall preparation tips can help you make the most of your remaining time.

Overall Strategy

  • Aptitude for Legal Studies carries 35% of the total marks — spend the most time on it, as it can significantly differentiate your score
  • Negative marking is -1 per wrong answer. Do not guess randomly — skip questions where you cannot reasonably eliminate options
  • In KLEE 2025, GK was the toughest section. Do not neglect it in your last-minute revision
  • Arithmetic and Mental Ability has only 15 questions but all 15 can be scored correctly with targeted practice — a 45-mark advantage over candidates who skip this section
  • Target 80–90 accurate attempts rather than rushing to attempt all 120 with guesses. Accuracy matters more than coverage in KLEE

Aptitude for Legal Studies — 42 Questions, 35% Weightage

  • Read Part III (Fundamental Rights) and Part IV (Directive Principles) of the Indian Constitution — these appear regularly in KLEE
  • Study key IPC provisions (general exceptions, offences against persons and property), the Indian Contract Act basics, and Law of Torts (negligence, strict liability)
  • Practise principle-based legal reasoning questions where you apply a stated rule to a fact situation — this is the core skill KLEE tests in this section
  • Follow recent Supreme Court and Kerala High Court judgments on constitutional rights from the last 12 months
  • CLAT-style legal reasoning practice books are a good resource — the question format is nearly identical to KLEE

General English — 36 Questions, 30% Weightage

  • Practise reading comprehension passages — 2 passages per day builds both speed and accuracy before the exam
  • Build vocabulary using law entrance word lists covering synonyms, antonyms, and idioms commonly tested
  • Revise grammar rules — subject-verb agreement, tenses, articles, and prepositions with daily exercises
  • In 2025, the English section was moderate — most prepared candidates scored between 25 and 32 out of 36

General Knowledge — 27 Questions, 22.5% Weightage

  • Cover current affairs from January 2026 onwards systematically using a monthly PDF or current affairs app
  • Pay specific attention to Kerala-specific current affairs, High Court judgments, and state legislative developments — national exam resources often miss these
  • Review important sports events, award winners, and government policy announcements from the last 6 months

Arithmetic and Mental Ability — 15 Questions, 12.5% Weightage

  • Focus on percentages, ratio and proportion, profit/loss, and time-distance problems for arithmetic

Ques. Who conducts KLEE 2026?

Ans. KLEE 2026 is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala. It is the state-level law entrance exam for admission to government and private law colleges in Kerala for 3-year LLB, 5-year integrated LLB, and LLM programmes. The official website is cee.kerala.gov.in. You can also contact CEE Kerala at 0471-2525300 (8 AM to 8 PM) for any queries.

Ques. What is the eligibility for KLEE 2026 3-year LLB?

Ans. For KLEE 2026 3-year LLB, you need a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university with a minimum of 45% marks for General category, 42% for SEBC, and 40% for SC/ST candidates. There is no upper age limit. Final-year graduation students can also apply provisionally — they must produce their degree certificate when reporting to the allotted college.

Ques. What is the eligibility for KLEE 2026 5-year LLB?

Ans. For KLEE 2026 5-year LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, or B.Com LLB), you need to have passed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks (General), 42% (SEBC), or 40% (SC/ST). You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026. Students appearing in their Class 12 exam in 2026 can also apply provisionally.

Ques. How many questions are in KLEE 2026?

Ans. The KLEE 2026 LLB exam has 120 multiple-choice questions for a total of 360 marks in a 2-hour duration. There are four sections — Aptitude for Legal Studies (42 questions, 35%), General English (36 questions, 30%), General Knowledge (27 questions, 22.5%), and Arithmetic and Mental Ability (15 questions, 12.5%). Each correct answer earns +3 marks and each wrong answer deducts 1 mark.

Ques. What are the qualifying marks for KLEE 2026?

For SC/ST candidates, the minimum is 5% of total marks, which equals 18 marks. Scoring above this places you on the KLEE rank list and makes you eligible for counselling. Note that these qualifying marks are very low — getting into a government law college requires a much higher score.

You can check your rank by logging in with your registered credentials.

Ques. How does KLEE 2026 counselling work?

Ans. KLEE 2026 counselling is conducted entirely online by CEE Kerala through the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). After the rank list is published, qualified candidates submit their college and course preferences through the portal. Seats are allotted based on rank and category in multiple rounds — typically Round 1, Round 2, and a mop-up round. In 2025, the first seat allotment was published on July 29, 2025. KLEE 2026 counselling dates will be announced after the result in July 2026.
