MBA v/s Diploma in Management

Students tend to get confused between MBA and Diploma in Management courses. Hence a comparison is given between MBA and Diploma in Management courses.

MBA Diploma in Management
A Diploma degree is offered to students at the completion of management diploma courses. Whereas at the conclusion of MBA programmes the students are offered with a postgraduate degree.
The curriculum for MBA courses is planned by the university. In two MBA colleges within the same university, the core syllabus would be similar. Diploma courses, however, are decided by each institute. This gives the curriculum of the course some versatility. The Syllabus undergoes an annual modification in compliance with industrial requirements.
There are similar core subjects in both MBA and PGDM courses, but most MBA courses concentrate more on the theoretical and technical aspects of management than on a practical approach. Diploma in management courses have a manufacturing emphasis and concentrate on business requirements-based skills.
Cost of MBA courses is somewhat less than the Diploma in Management. This is due to the fact that most MBA colleges are funded by the government. Cost of a Diploma in Management course is slightly higher than MBA as this course is mostly offered by private institutions. In most cases the cost for both of these courses is more or less the same.

Candidates are trained to achieve a better understanding of the leadership qualities used in business studies. Students benefit from the creation of the skills learned during this course to find lucrative job opportunities in sectors ranging from marketing, operations and entrepreneurship. Those who have completed their Diploma in Management programme successfully may start their career as:

Ques. Which MBA is better, IMT Ghaziabad (dual country course) or an MBA from BITSOM Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 19 Jun 23

Ans. Too close to call. Both are good choices to consider. On the other hand, if I have to take a call, I will most likely use BITSOM. Based on the below-mentioned reasons; Has a clear and compelling vision. aspires to be one of the best schools there is. Has aspirations on a worldwide scale. Has recruited highly qualified faculty and teams Very strongly supported Being open to making investments. Therefore, it's possible that both will be tied in the short term, but I have a feeling that in the long run, BITSOM will pull ahead. The MBA, on the other hand, is strictly a long-term investment.Read more

Ques. What is better at IMT Ghaziabad PGDM or PGDM DCP?

● Top Answer By Shalini Verma on 02 Jun 23

Ans. Both programs have their own advantages and disadvantages so the answer would largely depend on what you want from your MBA. The DCP program of IMT Ghaziabad is a very unique course where students get to study at a partner (foreign) B-School and have a compulsory international immersion program. In terms of placements opportunity, I don’t believe they are doing anything exceptional as regards to the fee they are charging for this partcilaur course but if you want to explore universities abroad you could definitely join IMT for their DCP program.  Their flagship PGDM program is a 2 years full-time residential program where you will have to choose your elective at the start of your second year and you’ll also be given a chance to fill out the application for the student exchange program. PGDM should be your obvious choice if you’re given both option and you’re not adamant about living in Dubai.Read more

Ques. I have been shortlisted for DCP program in IMT G and MBA BM in XIMB? Which one would be better among the two?

● Top Answer By Bidita Ghose on 02 May 23

Ans. I would say that you should definitely choose XIMB. It's their primary program, and it will be much better than IMT G's DCP program. Just because of cost. The DCP program has fees that are over 22 lakhs and an average package of around 9 lakhs per annum. In contrast, the XIMB BM program has an average package of 13 lakhs per annum and fees of 15.40 lakhs for two years. Also, keep in mind that the DCP program is still new, so there won't be much support from the business.  I would have considered IMT G if it was a full-time program. If you can move up to IMT Ghaziabad and want to get an MBA with a focus on marketing and entrepreneurship courses, you should choose IMT Ghaziabad. But the DCP course fee isn't worth it for the same opportunity unless you want to work abroad, especially in Dubai.Read more

Ans. Since you haven't mentioned your background or favorite stream, I'll answer generally. Both schools seem fine. You can take IMT if you want to work in marketing. Ques. Shall I go for PGDBM from NMIMS, or shall I go for PGCBM from XLRI, Jamshedpur? Please feel free to advice any other course, apart from these two related to EMBA. I have 5 plus years of experience.

● Top Answer By Siddarth Ghose on 18 Apr 23

Ans. XLRI has a strong reputation for Human Resource (HR) management and Industrial Relations (IR) studies. If an individual is specifically interested in HR/IR, then XLRI would be a better option compared to NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies). However, if you are looking for a general management program, then NMIMS would be a better choice because of its excellent peer group and rigorous curriculum.  XLRI is still a good institute for other streams, but it is more specialized in HR and IR. Similarly, NMIMS is known for its general management program, and it may not have the same level of expertise as XLRI in HR/IR.Read more

Ques. Which is better LBSIM, Delhi PGDM (general) or IMI, Delhi PGDM (B&FS)?

● Top Answer By Amay Singh on 03 Mar 23

Ans. PGDM BFS is a viable option if you are keen about numbers and finance in general. PGDM core and PGDM BFS rarely has a major difference in curriculum except that marketing subjects of BFS would be less intriguing and the major pedagogy is directed towards marketing of finance products and services only. A PGDM core student is open to a plethora of opportunities during placements as he is eligible to appear for companies offering marketing and sales profiles. On the contrary, a PGDM BFS student has been exposed to a customized curriculum that focuses mainly on Finance and lacks a wide range of opportunities. However, he has a more definite chance of securing placement at a company offering Finance roles like Banks and other financial institutions. This advantage seems very minimal right now but with the increase in the relevance of the curriculum and demand of the course, it will soon be coveted among Finance aspirants. The BFS faculties are considered to be among the best given the excellent performance of BFS students in the recent years and the increasing popularity of the course. The companies visiting the campus for BFS are not only banks but include AMCs, NBFCs, FinTechs and other Fin Services firms. The course targets the entire Banking and Finance sector.  At the end of the day, what remains of your college life is not the specific course you chose but the college you chose to pursue it. Be it PGDM Core or PGDM BFS, IMI Delhi is the perfect college to experience a great college life.Read more

Ques. Which course is better to join IMT Ghaziabad PGDM (Dual Country Programme) or TAPMI PGDM?

● Top Answer By Arshit Jain on 16 Feb 23

Ans. When considering a post-graduation program in management, PGDM, a Dual Country Program may not offer as many advantages as one might expect. In fact, such programs often come with added costs and require students to spend a year studying in another country, such as Dubai. This can have several drawbacks, including missing out on valuable opportunities for networking and participating in Indian business school competitions. Additionally, when students return to India for placement, they may be competing with a larger pool of students from other programs. In light of these factors, a more prudent option for some students might be to consider a program at a different institute such as TAPMI, which is lower in rank compared to IMT Ghaziabad. However, this tradeoff may be worth it for some students, as TAPMI offers a more favorable program that may better align with their career goals and aspirations. TAPMI is a premier management institute in India known for its strong curriculum and industry-relevant courses. The program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a career in management. Additionally, the institute's alumni network of industry leaders can help students to secure internships and job opportunities post-graduation. When considering a post-graduation program, it's important to research the different options available and weigh the pros and cons of each institute. Researching the institute's curriculum, faculty, and alumni network, as well as speaking to current students and alumni can help you to make an informed decision. Additionally, it would be a good idea to seek the opinion of professionals in the field you are interested in, as they can provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different career paths.Read more
