Which college should I go for?
Hello seniors, So currently I have this option of choosing between these colleges. I'm a non Bengali, who grew up in WB. I'm in a dilemma rn which college is suitable for me. Fees is not an issue, I can spend upto 20L without any issue. I really wanted to Join JU Mechanical but seeing the campus pics and infrastructure I got so disappointed like how is this a tier 1 college?? In future I'm not sure what am going to do, Many JU seniors told to prepare for GATE from 3rd year if I'm joining JU core. Since I'm a non Bengali I might feel left out in this college since all the fests are limited to Bengali culture. On the flip side, MIT Manipal offers CSE, which has better placement stats & more flexibility, but it's a private college, and does not have great reputation as compared to JU. Pls reply genuinely.

ROI. I can spend 15-20L in a degree and get happy with 15-20L package itself.

If you want college life and all go for Manipal and if you only want to get a degree with a good placement go for Jadavpur..... It all depends on you..... And regarding core vs it again it's your call and yes you would have to go for a Masters if you choose core

bro that picture of JU is of the saltlake campus , that's not their main campus edit : I went to the saltlake campus once , it looked exactly like this from outside , so i thought it might be the SL campus actually

Bhai college ke images mein mat jaa. It's definitely a tier 1 college with insane exposure. Meri dost toh college refered internship mein free mein US ghum aayi hai and even got a 3L stipend for 2 months. (Aur woh toh legit arts ki student hai)

If you want to do CSE, you can come here. It's not as bad as people are making it out to be. Infrastructure is good, hostels are great, mess food is amazing and ragging is non-existent (literally haven't heard of one case of ragging here). College life will be great as you will be interacting with students from all over India and also from different streams (Medical college (KMC), dental college, commerce college, ARTS college, Hotel Management college etc are all walking distance from each other). Good professors. Usually chill. Teach well (subjective). Have good IIT or US uni degrees. Very strong student project and club (societies) culture. Very well funded as well. Crazy good sports facilities and teams. Good research culture. Again very well funded. Every other person I know is doing research under a prof. Party culture is good if you're into that. Beachside town with decent weather. Good M to F ratio. If you wanna date honestly no better place. I really mean it. If you maintain a 8.5+ CG and develop decent skills, you can easily bag 20+. CONS: mainly fees is quite high and no scholarship. A little harsh grading. If you are too rich and too free might get into bad habits (but that's true for any college), very less holidays (No holidays even on Saturday), marks and grades are very strict, no room for negotiation, boys hostels kinda far from edu blocks, Manipal is a small town so not much to do, student town so naturally expensive, I spent 3 years here and going to start the 4th and don't regret coming here one bit. It has changed me for the better. Made lifelong memories ..
