NIET B.Tech FAQs
Ques. Is JEE Main mandatory for admission to B.Tech CSE at NIET Greater Noida, or can I get admission without it?
Ans. JEE Main is mandatory for the 85% seats filled through UPTAC (UP Technical Admission Counselling) at NIET. However, NIET also offers 15% seats under the direct/management quota, where JEE Main score is preferred but the college's own admission policy applies. Students without a JEE Main score can apply directly through applynow.niet.co.in for management quota seats. That said, having a JEE Main score significantly improves your chances and is strongly recommended, as management quota seats are limited and fill up quickly.
Ques. What is the actual total fee for B.Tech CSE at NIET for all 4 years, and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. As per the official 2026-27 fee structure, the total 4-year fee is Rs. 6,46,200 (Year 1: Rs. 1,79,100 + Years 2, 3, 4: Rs. 1,55,700 each). This includes tuition, exam fees, career grooming, placement charges, and other institute fees. The security deposit of Rs. 5,000 is refundable. Hostel fees are separate and range from Rs. 1,17,630 to Rs. 1,59,570 per year depending on room type. Bus transport fees (if opted) are also additional, ranging from Rs. 35,100 to Rs. 54,000 per year depending on the route. Fees are subject to revision as per UP Government Fee Committee recommendations.
Ques. How is the CSE placement at NIET compared to other colleges in Greater Noida? What companies actually visit for CSE students?
Ans. NIET is considered one of the better placement colleges in the Greater Noida/Delhi NCR region for B.Tech CSE. In 2026-27, the highest package was Rs. 44 LPA and over 3,100 offers were made with 500+ companies visiting. Top recruiters for CSE include Microsoft, Autodesk, JP Morgan, Razorpay, Juspay, Atlan, GoDaddy, NatWest, Accenture, TCS, LTIMindtree, Cognizant, HCL, Wipro, and Capgemini. The average package for B.Tech is around Rs. 6 LPA. While the highest packages are impressive, students should note that the average is more representative of typical outcomes.
Ques. Does NIET offer any specialisation within B.Tech CSE, and how is it different from B.Tech CSE (AI/ML), CSE (Data Science), etc.?
Ans. Yes, NIET offers multiple CSE variants: B.Tech CSE (core), B.Tech CSE (AI & ML), B.Tech CSE (Data Science), B.Tech CSE (Cyber Security), B.Tech CSE (IoT), B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence), and B.Tech Computer Science & Business Systems (CSBS). The core B.Tech CSE covers a broad curriculum including algorithms, OS, DBMS, networks, software engineering, and electives in emerging areas. Specialised variants have a more focused curriculum in their respective domains from the 3rd semester onwards. If you are clear about a specific domain like AI/ML or Data Science, the specialised variant may be more beneficial; otherwise, core CSE offers more flexibility.
Ques. What is the UPTAC counselling process for NIET, and how many rounds are there? Can I change my college after Round 1 allotment?
Ans. UPTAC conducts 4 regular rounds plus 2 special rounds for B.Tech admissions. In Round 1, you register, upload documents, fill choices, and get a seat allotment. After allotment, you can choose to "Float" (participate in further rounds for a better option) or "Freeze" (confirm your current allotment). If you float, you may get a better college/branch in Round 2 or 3, but your current seat is not guaranteed. From Round 3 onwards, choice locking is final. Physical reporting at the allotted institute is mandatory after Round 4. So yes, you can change your college/branch preference up to Round 3, but once you freeze or after Round 4, the allotment is final.
Ques. Is the hostel at NIET compulsory, and what is the quality of hostel facilities?
Ans. Hostel at NIET is not compulsory for B.Tech students. The institute has 5 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels on campus. Facilities include Wi-Fi, 24-hour power backup, RO water, cooperative mess, gymnasium, library, medical facility, CCTV, and security. Room options range from 2-seater to 4-seater, with non-AC, air-cooled, and AC variants. Annual hostel fees (including mess) range from approximately Rs. 1,02,690 to Rs. 1,59,570 depending on room type. Many students from outside Greater Noida/Delhi NCR opt for hostel accommodation, while local students typically commute using the institute's bus service.
