NIET Greater Noida offers a 4-year full-time B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and approved by AICTE. The programme spans 8 semesters and covers neural networks, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, probabilistic models, and robotics, equipping students with both theoretical foundations and hands-on application skills. The total course fee for the 4-year programme is Rs. 6,46,200, with a seat intake of 240 seats. NIET B.Tech AIML FAQs

Ques. Is the B.Tech AIML at NIET the same as B.Tech CSE? Will my degree mention AIML or CSE?

Ans. The B.Tech AIML programme at NIET is officially titled "B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)." Your degree certificate issued by AKTU will mention the specialisation as CSE (AIML). The core foundation is similar to B.Tech CSE, but the curriculum is specifically designed with a heavier focus on AI, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and computer vision from the second year onwards. Students who want a broader CSE degree with AI as an elective should opt for B.Tech CSE, while those specifically targeting AI/ML careers should choose this programme.

Ques. What JEE Main rank is typically required to get admission to B.Tech AIML at NIET through UPTAC counselling?

Ans. Based on UPTAC 2024 data, the closing rank for B.Tech CSE (AI) at NIET for the General category was approximately 2,47,159 (General AI category). The AIML branch tends to have a similar or slightly higher demand. Students with a JEE Main percentile above 70-75 (roughly rank below 2,50,000) generally have a good chance of securing a seat through UPTAC counselling. However, ranks vary each year based on the number of applicants and seat availability, so it is advisable to check the official UPTAC seat allotment data for the most recent year.

Ques. Is hostel accommodation compulsory at NIET? What are the actual costs involved for a student from outside Delhi/NCR?

Ans. As per NIET's official policy, hostel accommodation is mandatory for all students who are not residents of Delhi/NCR. For the 2026-27 session, the annual hostel fee for a standard non-AC three-seater room in the boys' hostel (Plot-15) is Rs. 1,17,630 (including mess advance of Rs. 36,300, medical insurance of Rs. 500, and a refundable security deposit of Rs. 5,000). For girls, a four-seater non-AC room costs Rs. 1,02,690 per year. Adding this to the annual college fee of Rs. 1,79,100 (Year 1), the total first-year cost for an outstation student would be approximately Rs. 2,96,730 for a standard room. AC and air-cooled options are available at higher costs subject to availability.

Ques. Does NIET AIML have good placement support? What kind of companies recruit from this department?

Ans. NIET has a dedicated placement cell and the overall average package for the 2024 batch was 6.02 LPA. The AIML department specifically attracts recruiters from the technology sector including companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Capgemini, and several product-based startups. The department also has tie-ups with companies for internships and live projects. However, students should note that placement figures are college-wide and not exclusively for the AIML branch. Students who supplement their degree with industry certifications (Oracle, AWS, Microsoft) and projects tend to receive better offers. The college also supports students in applying for higher studies abroad through its Centre for Global Engagement.

Ques. Can I switch from B.Tech AIML to B.Tech CSE after joining NIET? What is the process?

Ans. Branch change at NIET is governed by AKTU norms and is typically permitted after the first year based on academic performance and seat availability in the desired branch. A student must have a strong academic record (usually top performers in the first year) to be eligible for a branch change. The process involves applying to the institute's academic section within the prescribed window, and the change is subject to vacant seats in the target branch. Since B.Tech CSE is a high-demand branch, branch changes into it are competitive. Students are advised to confirm the exact branch change policy with the NIET academic office at the time of admission.

Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech AIML and B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence) at NIET? Both seem similar.

Ans. NIET offers two separate programmes: B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) and B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence). While both programmes cover AI fundamentals, the AIML programme has a broader scope covering both machine learning algorithms and AI applications, whereas the AI-only programme may have a narrower focus on artificial intelligence concepts. In terms of career outcomes, both are largely similar and target the same industry roles. The key differentiator is the curriculum depth in machine learning versus pure AI. Students should review the detailed semester-wise syllabus available on the NIET website (niet.co.in) before making a choice, as the distinction matters for those planning to pursue specialised postgraduate studies or research in a specific sub-field.

The college faculty is good and supportive but they keep the first years in a separate campus from the seniors. The first year's campus is quite small and operates like a school. The college is autonomous, so won't have to study unnecessary subjects like chemistry and we get done with exams before the rest of the aktu's colleges. Our college also arranges coding workshop for a whole month after end semester exams. As for the social life, in first year, there isn't really much. You also can't bunk lecture s. Overall it's a nice college from the academic aspects.

There are three plots here Plot 19 main campus for 2nd- 4th year studenta Plot 14 campus for btech 1st year Plot 15 for MBA students Each campus has its own hostel and canteen College continuously organizes events like codathom Hackathon dance competition, talent competitions . Very recently gaurav chaudhary - famously known as technical Guruji visited our campus . 1st year teachers are really very very nice . They teach nicely . If you go to college regularly I won't have to study extra anything after college. There are 2 weekly tests 3 sessional exams and 2 semester exam . They have communication classes which really builds confidence to remove stage fear . We have to maintain 85% attendance here. It is an autonomous college which is really a big advantage for the students and the faculty. We also have workshops every year . We study every language starting with python. Syllabus of coding classes changes every year according to the company's need . Teachers help students to guide in every possible ways but the thing is If you want more you have to apply your efforts accordingly. You have to study yourself . Here students get internship from 2nd year also . Subjects in 1st sem - Egineering Mathematics, Basic Electrical and Electronic Engineering , foreign language (German , French , Japanese), ABC acquiring business communication - for this we have to our exams on British council app.
