Rookala Kendro is a prestigious institute dedicated solely to the study of film and social communication in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was formed out of Indo-Italian technical cooperation in the year 1995.

The institute offers two-year Post Graduate Diploma courses in Development Communication, Motion Picture Photography, Direction, Editing Sound Design and Animation Creation and Direction respectively.

The minimum eligibility for candidates applying to the various courses offered by Roopkala Kendro is graduation or equivalent.
Candidates applying to the Sound Design course must have Physics as a compulsory subject in Higher Secondary or equivalent course by a recognized board.
Basic drawing and computer skills are mandatory for those interested in applying to the Animation Creation course.
Applicants interested in pursuing the PG Diploma in Development Communication course must complete graduation with Mass Communication/Social Sciences/Economics as one of the subjects.
Those applying to the PG Diploma in Direction course must have good communication skills in order to be eligible.
Candidates must not be over 25 years of age as on March 31, at the year of admission.
An exception up to five-year can be made for SC/ST/OBC, Physically Challenged and exceptionally talented candidates.
Candidates can purchase or download the admission form and prospectus from the official website.
The duly filled form must be sent to the Director and CEO, Roopkala Kendro along with a demand draft of INR 300 (for general) and INR 350 (for outstation candidates) drawn in favour of ‘Roopkala Kendro’, payable at Kolkata.
Eligible candidates have to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the institute, comprising of 2 papers-An Essay Paper of 100 marks and a Specialization Paper of 200 marks.
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of performance in the entrance exam will be called for an interview/orientation round at the institute.
The interview date would be intimated by post.
Candidates who clear both the written test and interview/orientation rounds at the institute will be granted admission to the desired course.

Roopkala Kendro PG Diploma Admission 2024

Roopkala Kendro offers two-year Post Graduate Diploma program in Direction, Animation Creation and Direction, Motion Picture Photography, Editing Sound Design and Development Communication.

Candidates must complete graduation in order to be eligible for admission to these courses. Those seeking admission to the Sound Design course must have Physics as a subject at the Higher Secondary level. Basic drawing and computer skills are mandatory for Animation Creation course applicants, while the Development Communication course requires a candidate to be a graduate in Mass Communication/Social Science/Economics.

Eligible candidates need to go through a written test and an interview/orientation in order to qualify for admission. Application forms can be downloaded and printed along with the prospectus. Applicants shortlisted on the basis of their applications are called for a written test at the institute.

The written test has 2 papers- An Essay Paper of 100 marks (2 hours) and a Specialization Paper of 200 marks (3 hours). Candidates who clear the entrance exam are called for an interview/orientation round at a specified date.

Final selection is made on the basis of a student’s performance in the written test and interview. Selected candidates must pay the first instalment of fees within the stipulated time period to confirm their seats.

Online:

Candidates can download and print the prospectus from the institute’s official website.
The application form and admit card for the entrance exam are attached to the prospectus.
Eligible candidates need to fill-in all the details clearly and submit the application form and admit card along with a demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Roopkala Kendro’ payable at Kolkata.
Application Fees: INR 300 (for general) and INR 350 (for outstation candidates)

Alternatively, candidates can also obtain the prospectus and application form from Roopkala Kendro by paying application fees.

X-ray of chest PA view.
Blood Group and RH typing.
Eye testing reports by an ophthalmologist for any refractive errors or colour vision abnormality.
Audiometry and Tympanometry of both ears by a qualified ENT specialist.

The admissions in this college are based on the entrance test that is conducted by the college for all the applicants. After which students are selected on the basis of merit list for personal interviews. As I was selected in the personal interview, I got the admission.

Admission:

There is an entrance test conducted by the college itself. They release a merit list based on the performance in the test and students are shortlisted for interviews on the basis of this list. I was selected during the interview process and got the admission.

Admission:

The college holds its own entrance test. A merit list comes out of the students who qualify in the entrance exam on the college website. These students then have to go for the interview round which happens in the college campus. I got selected and gave the interview which went pretty good. Then I got a mail as the offer letter for admission into the college.
