Seiko B.Pharma Lateral FAQs
Ques. Can I join B.Pharma Lateral Entry at Seiko College directly without CUET? Is there any direct admission option?
Ans. As per the current UP government policy, admission to B.Pharma Lateral Entry in all AKTU-affiliated colleges including Seiko College of Pharmacy is done exclusively through UPTAC counselling, which requires a valid CUET UG score. There is no provision for direct admission bypassing the UPTAC process for state quota seats. However, a small percentage of seats (NRI/Management quota) may be filled at the college level - students should contact the college admissions office directly to check if any such seats are available and what the process entails.
Ques. I have completed D.Pharma from a private institute. Am I eligible for B.Pharma Lateral Entry at Seiko College?
Ans. Yes, D.Pharma from any PCI-recognised institution (government or private) makes you eligible for B.Pharma Lateral Entry. The key requirement is a minimum of 45% marks in D.Pharma (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates). Your D.Pharma institution being private does not disqualify you. However, ensure your D.Pharma college is listed on the PCI website as a recognised institution, as UPTAC verifies this during document verification.
Ques. What is the actual duration of B.Pharma Lateral Entry? Will I get a full B.Pharma degree at the end?
Ans. B.Pharma Lateral Entry students are admitted directly to the 2nd year of the 4-year B.Pharma programme. This means you study for 3 years (2nd, 3rd, and 4th year) at the college. At the end of the programme, you receive the same Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) degree as regular students - there is no distinction on the degree certificate between lateral entry and regular entry students. The degree is awarded by AKTU, Lucknow.
Ques. What are the career options after completing B.Pharma Lateral Entry from Seiko College?
Ans. After completing B.Pharma, graduates can work as pharmacists in retail pharmacies, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. Other career paths include drug inspector roles (government), quality control/assurance in pharma manufacturing, medical representative positions, and research roles. Graduates can also pursue M.Pharma for higher studies or appear for government pharmacy officer exams. The B.Pharma degree from an AKTU-affiliated college is widely recognised across India for both employment and higher education purposes.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed at Seiko College for B.Pharma Lateral Entry students?
Ans. Seiko College of Pharmacy has both boys and girls hostels on campus. However, hostel accommodation is subject to availability and is not automatically guaranteed upon admission. Students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation early, ideally at the time of college reporting. The hostel fee is Rs. 20,000 per year and mess charges are Rs. 2,500 per month (4 meals per day). The total annual hostel + mess cost works out to approximately Rs. 50,000 per year.
Ques. After B.Pharma Lateral Entry, can I pursue M.Pharma? Will GPAT accept my B.Pharma lateral entry degree?
Ans. Yes, B.Pharma graduates from lateral entry are fully eligible to appear for GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) and pursue M.Pharma admission. The PCI and NTA do not differentiate between regular and lateral entry B.Pharma graduates for GPAT eligibility. Your AKTU B.Pharma degree from Seiko College will be accepted for M.Pharma admissions across India. Many lateral entry students successfully pursue M.Pharma and even Ph.D. in Pharmacy after completing their B.Pharma.
