NID Haryana Admission FAQs
Ques. Is it difficult to get admission into NID Haryana?
Ans. NID Haryana has one of the most competitive admissions with a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) being an entrance examination of national level, and a few seats are available, which attracts thousands of candidates. The cut-off is rather high, as out of the 86 seats in the B.Des program, Indian students can obtain only 75 in three different specialisations. Given that the process of selection will involve DAT Prelims and DAT Mains, the candidates must perform consistently in terms of sketching tests, design thinking tests, and problem-solving tests. In a competitive environment, among the aspiring candidates, special exercises in the earlier papers and imaginative development of a portfolio are commonly required to render a candidate worthy in the recruitment procedure.
Ques. Can international students apply for NID Haryana admissions?
Ans. NID Haryana does provide 11 slots of B.Des to overseas students. The applicants who are internationally based are not required to attend the main NID DAT, yet they need to present such documents as transcripts, portfolios, and evidence of English proficiency where necessary. The process of admitting overseas students is a little different, and it is handled by the NID admissions office, which assesses foreign students individually. This transforms the institute into a centre of cultural diversity and enables the worldly views of design learning.
Ques. What financial assistance is available for students during admissions?
Ans. NID Haryana gives a number of scholarships to meritorious and economically weaker section (EWS) students to reduce the cost. As an example, the foundation year new admission topper would be allowed to take INR 50,000, and merit-cum-means scholarship would be provided to students with an EWS background to the top 25% of their batch. Also, the high achievers in later years are granted a scholarship of between INR 30,000 and INR 50,000.
Ques. What is the role of counselling in NID Haryana admissions?
Ans. The last and most significant process in the admission process at NID Haryana is counselling. Candidates who pass the DAT Prelims and the DAT Mains results are invited to take part in counselling. At this stage, assignments are made on the basis of rank, group, and preference for specialisation. The learners should then make fee payments and provide documents to ensure their admission. Without the counselling or presentation of documents before time, the seat may have to be lost; thus, this is a very important process in assuring admission.
Ques. Does NID Haryana have any age limit for B.Des admissions?
Ans. Yes, there is an upper age limit in accepting admission to the Sony B.Des program, and this is also applicable to NID Haryana. As a rule, the general category has an age limit of under 20 years on 30 June of the admission year, whereas those who belong to reserved categories like OBC-NCL, SC, and ST have up to a maximum age of 3 years relaxation. PwD applicants enjoy a 5-year relaxation. Such a requirement by age, ceilings, ensures that the undergraduate design program is given to new graduates of school who can adhere to four years of intensive practice in creative skills.
