TAG CMP FAQs
Ques. Do I need any prior music or audio production experience to join the Certificate in Music Production at TAG Mumbai?
Ans. No prior experience in music or audio production is required to enroll in the Certificate in Music Production (CMP) at TAG Mumbai. The course is specifically designed for beginners and music enthusiasts who want to learn the fundamentals of music production from scratch. The curriculum starts with audio fundamentals and music theory basics before progressing to DAW usage, mixing, and arrangement. However, having a basic interest in music or some familiarity with instruments can be helpful in grasping concepts faster.
Ques. What DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) will I learn in the Certificate in Music Production course?
Ans. The Certificate in Music Production at TAG Mumbai primarily focuses on Logic Pro X, which is one of the most widely used DAWs in professional music production, especially in the Indian music industry. You will learn to use Logic Pro X for recording, composition, arrangement, mixing, and working with virtual instruments. The course also covers the use of signal processors and virtual instruments within the DAW environment. Students who complete the CMP and progress to the Certificate in Advanced Music Production (CAMP) will additionally learn Ableton Live.
Ques. What is the difference between the Certificate in Music Production (CMP) and the Diploma in Music Production (DMP) at TAG? Which should I choose?
Ans. The Certificate in Music Production (CMP) is a 6-month foundational program priced at INR 1,50,000, designed for beginners who want to learn the basics of music production including music theory, DAW usage, arrangement, and mixing. The Diploma in Music Production (DMP) is a 12-month comprehensive program priced at INR 3,00,000 that covers all the CMP content and goes significantly deeper into advanced production techniques, mixing, mastering, and professional workflows. If you are a complete beginner or want to explore music production before committing to a longer program, the CMP is a good starting point. If you are serious about a professional career in music production, the DMP or the Advanced Diploma (DAMP) would be more appropriate.
Ques. Can I progress to more advanced courses at TAG after completing the Certificate in Music Production?
Ans. Yes, the Certificate in Music Production (CMP) serves as a prerequisite for the Certificate in Advanced Music Production (CAMP) at TAG Mumbai. The CAMP is a 3-month advanced program priced at INR 99,000 that covers advanced synthesis, orchestral arrangement, scoring for films and jingles, and advanced mixing and mastering using SSL, Midas, and Avid consoles. Students who complete the CMP and want to deepen their skills can directly enroll in the CAMP. Alternatively, students can also consider the Diploma in Music Production (DMP) or the Advanced Diploma in Music Production (DAMP) for a more comprehensive learning path.
Ques. Does TAG Mumbai provide placement assistance after the Certificate in Music Production course?
Ans. TAG Mumbai provides placement assistance and has a network of industry partners. However, it is important to note that the Certificate in Music Production is a foundational program, and entry-level roles in the music industry are typically competitive. Graduates of the CMP are prepared for roles such as Studio Assistant, Beat Maker, Vocal Editor, and Independent Songwriter. Placement outcomes depend significantly on the student's own skill development, portfolio quality, and networking during the course. Students are encouraged to build their portfolio actively and leverage TAG's alumni network and industry connections.
