To be eligible for admission into Diploma courses, a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:-

Must appear and qualify in the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) for admission into Diploma Courses' offered by State Council for Technical Education, Assam for the concerned academic session as notified by the DTE, Assam.
For admission into Diploma Courses, the candidate must pass the H.S.L.C. or its equivalent examination with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subject with 40% marks (in Average) in Mathematics and Science for General candidates
- 35% marks (in Average) in Mathematics and Science for SC candidates
- 33% marks (in Average) in Mathematics and Science for ST Candidates.
A candidate should be physically fit and mentally sound and should possess the minimum physical standard.
Candidates must be an Indian Citizen and Permanent resident of Assam.

Assam Engineering Institute Diploma Selection Criteria

Admission is done on the basis of marks scored in PAT
Admission test will be held in all the Polytechnics of Assam on the subject Science and Mathematics on the date and time as notified by the DTE
PAT contains Science and Mathematics of 100 marks of 2 hours duration. The question paper will be of the H.S.L.C. level on the date and time as notified by DTE Assam.
The questions will be of objective types with multiple choice Answers for the Examinations.

Ans. It is well connected to both the railway station (3 KM) and the airport (28 KM). Moreover, Guwahati is the gateway to the North-Eastern region of India, being well connected to all the other states like Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Ques. Is there any Hostel Facility?

Ans. Assam Engineering Institute is a residential type institute providing hostel accommodation to more than 75% of the students both boys and girls. the institute has two boys hostel and one for girls. The total hostel fee is INR 540/-.

Ques. Is there any Library facility?

Ans. Yes, Assam Engineering Institute Library was established in 1948 in a small room and in 1952 there were 986 volumes of books on various engineering subjects valued Rs. 11,111/- in additions to a few journals. Now with a carpet area of 257.5 Sq. meter; there are 24591 nos. of books, including the textbooks the library has a good number of Reference Books in Engineering Subjects, along with Guide Books, Hand Books, Collections on Environmental Science, etc. besides a few nos. of journals and newspapers.

Ques. Is there any computer lab?

Ans. The Institute has Six Computer Laboratories under various Departments and a total of more than 200 computers. This has benefited the students tremendously and the Institute can claim that the laboratories are one of the best in the NE region in producing trained manpower conversant with computer knowledge. All Computer Labs have the facility of high-speed Internet connectivity for the benefit of staff and students.

Admission:

Before the admissions there was an entrance exam held which is known as PAT ( Polytechnic Admission test) which is held between July -August for new batches . After the entrance exams the students cleared go through councelling where the authorities allocate the students preferred the institutes of their choice in regards to their marks obtained . The students fillup the online registration forms with a hardcopy with their birth certificate 10th and 12th marks and if they have studied in some other colleges or schools with a Transfer certificate from that particular college or school . The faculty members of the college recheck the required documents (hardcopy) in the allotted institute of the students and further go through the process of fee payment.

Basically, there is an entrance called PAT which is conducted for getting admission for a diploma and if you pass the exam with good marks you can go to the counselling and get admission to Assam Engineering Institute. The only improvement needed is to get admission online so that students don't need to rush here and there

For admission, candidates have to pass the entrance exam named PAT. Then-candidate got the seat and was ready for admission. The application form is online and notified in March -April. Admission fees are very minimal 1st fee is about RS 16000 and semester wise 1020 rs.

Eligibility criteria for the students - hslc pass student can seat for the entrance exam (PAT) hs pass student(science, arts, commerce) can seat for the entrance exam also another student can seat in this exam who pass hslc or as if they have a gap then they have to submit a certificate The application form will be given on the DTEAssam website you can apply from the website and you have to pay 500 rupees as application fees application date is around June month to July St/sc students can easily get admission if they score 45-50 mark in the entrance and they have a separate hostel
