FDDI Kolkata Latest Updates and News

17 Dec, 2025 AIST 2026 online applications will open on Dec 20, 2025, for all UG/PG admissions at FDDI Kolkata. Further, the application deadline is April 20, and the exam is scheduled for May 10, 2026.

12 Nov, 2025 UCEED 2026 Exam will be held on January 18, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM, for B.Des admission. Further, the Results will be announced on March 6, 2026. To know more, check here.

Footwear Design and Development Institute is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ set up by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in 1986. The Kolkata campus is only 20 minutes away from Science City and spread across 15 acres.

The institute is accredited by reputed international organizations such as DAkks Germany, SATRA Technology Centre (UK) to name a few. It has 12 state of the art campuses spread across the length and breadth of the country.

Eligibility

The basic eligibility for B.Des programs in all campuses of FDDI is the successful completion of 10+2 level education from a recognized institute located in India or abroad. Students in the final year of studies and awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

Additionally, students need to appear and successfully qualify for the national level AIST examination conducted by the institute.

The maximum permissible age of a candidate is 25 as of 1st July 2024.

Selection Criteria

All seats of FDDI Kolkata will be filled strictly based on merit i.e the performance of the student in the UCEED/AIST examination. All the reservation rules of the GoI will be applicable. In all courses, some seats are reserved exclusively for NRI candidates.

How to Apply for FDDI Kolkata?

Documents required

Functional email ID.
Valid phone number.
10+2 mark sheet.
A government-issued identity card.
Photo and signature as per the guidelines of FDDI (Less than 50 KB).
Caste certificate, if any.
PwD or EWS certificate, if applicable.

Steps to apply online

Visit the official website of the AIST examination.
Register for an account with your basic details.
Log in with your credentials and start filling up the application form.
Upload photo and signature.
Pay the prescribed fees.
Print the application form for future references.
Download the admit card when available.
After successfully clearing the entrance, check the merit list and participate in the counselling process.
Visit the allotted campus with all the relevant documents in original.

Ques. Does FDDI Kolkata offer accommodation?

Ans. Yes, FDDI Kolkata offers state of the art hostel facilities to all students. In fact, all 12 campuses of FDDI offers excellent residential facilities for its students.

Ques. Can Industry-sponsored professionals join the courses of FDDI?

Ans. Yes, industry-sponsored students are eligible for admission in FDDI. 10% of total seats are reserved for NRI and sponsored candidates. However, a certificate of sponsorship is required for admission of all sponsored students during the admission process.

Admission:

There is an All-Indian entrance examination for all the courses offered in FDDI. Although, our batch (2020) got in by their 12th results since entrance exams couldn't be held due to covid. Application forms are available on the official website and the entrance exam is usually held around the first quarter of every year. Reservations are as per government guidelines. You can apply after class 12th from any stream.

The admission process, I did through online basis. The application will be available in the college website . Admission:

The students who are trying to get admission for this college must have a good communication skill in English and good writing skill. Then they have to complete their 10,+2 exams. Then the application form will be available in the college website. The entry amount for this application form was about Rs 500.

Admission:

I applied for this college online by paying a fee for INR 500 for its entrance exam AIST. I cleared the AIST entrance exam and I was called for counselling. In the counselling process I had to submit my documents and pay a fee of 25,000 as the counselling fee.

Admission:

I pursued my undergrad course from here, I did my B.des in footwear and design. First of all I filled an online application of INR 500 and then I appeared for their entrance test I somehow managed to clear the exam. After that I was called for the counselling process and submitted my documents and a sum of INR 25,000 as the counselling fee.

Admission:

After completing my higher secondary I thought of applying for a designing course and found the bachelors for designing in leather goods and accessories course in Footwear Design and Development Institute. The selection for the course was done through an AIST examination which the students have to crack to get their names on the merit list.
