Jogamaya Devi College (JDC) is a ‘B’ Grade (Accredited by NAAC) college situated at S.P. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata. It is a women’s college with the status of ‘Center of Excellence in Women’s Education’ in Kolkata. The college was established in 1932 by Late Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, Kolkata.
JDC offers various UG and PG courses in the discipline of Arts, Science, and Commerce. It currently offers 10 B.A. General & 10 B.A. Honors courses, 7 B.Sc. General and 6 B.Sc. Honors courses, a B.Com General program and 2 B.Com. Honors specializations at the UG level. At the PG level, the college offers an M.A. program in Bengali, M.Sc. courses in Botany / Zoology / Chemistry / Geography / Environmental Sc., and an M.Com degree with a specialization in Farm Management. All courses are recognized by UGC, New Delhi.

Jogamaya Devi College UG Admissions 2024
Jogamaya Devi College offers a horde of 3-year General and Honors degree programs in the disciplines of Arts, Science and Commerce. The subjects available under the BA program (General / Honors) include Bengali, English, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Sociology, Psychology, Economics and Geography. For the B.Sc. program, General and Honors degree are offered in the disciplines of Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geology and Zoology with only General degree offered for B.Sc. Statistics. The department of commerce offers a General B.Com degree and two B.Com Honors programs with specializations in Accounting & Finance and Taxation.
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the General BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com courses is a pass in HSC/ 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board or institute. For admission to the Honors degree courses, candidates are required to have passed the 10+2 level exam in the relevant discipline (for instance, candidates clearing the 10+2 exam in Arts stream can pursue the only B.A. Honors program). Selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam with respect to merit. Honors candidates are further evaluated through a personal interview session.
Aspiring candidates may visit the institute campus and purchase the application form by paying the cost of application form in cash. However, the registration fee can be paid only via demand draft which needs to be submitted at the time of submission of application form. The institute doesn’t facilitate online submission of application forms at the moment.

Key Points:
- If a candidate has failed in a subject at 10+2 level, he/ she is not allowed to pursue the Bachelor’s degree in that subject.
- Candidates applying for General courses must score at least 30% marks in the last qualifying exam.
- For admission to any of the UG courses offered by the college, candidates are required to pass the English paper (not less than 100 marks) at 10+2 as a mandatory clause.
Jogamaya Devi College PG Admissions 2024
Jogamaya Devi College offers 2-year M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com programs under Calcutta University and Vidyasagar University (Mindapore) respectively. The M.A. program is offered in Bengali (Lang. & Literature) and the M.Com degree is offered with specialization in Farm Management. Candidates for the M.Sc. program may apply for the following specializations as applicable: Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry/ Geography/ Environmental Science. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognized institute or university. Selection of candidates is done on “first come first serve basis” provided the applicants have secured a minimum of 55% marks on the qualifying exam. M.A. Bengali candidates are however selected on Merit basis only.
Candidates wishing to take admission to these courses may fill the application form for Jogamaya Devi College after obtaining a physical copy of the same in person from the institute campus. For payment of application fee, only demand drafts are allowed. To be noted that the DD must be drawn in favor of “DDE, Vidyasagar University” payable at Mindapore.

- The MA Bengali program including the M.Sc. Botany program is offered under Calcutta University. The rest of the PG courses are offered under Vidyasagar University.

Jogamaya Devi College Application Process 2024
Jogamaya Devi College accepts applications from eligible candidates through offline mode, i.e. in the form of a physical copy which can be collected from the institute campus upon payment of the cost of application form. The application process in details is as follows:
- Candidates may visit the institute campus in person and collect the application form from the fee counter. A nominal charge (INR 200/-) against the cost of application form has to be paid in cash at the cash counter.
- Candidates are required to duly fill the application form leaving no blank columns. Applications that are partially filled won’t be considered for admission.
- The applicant must affix his/ her recent passport-size color photograph in the application form and cross-sign it. It is mandatory to self-attest the photograph for his/ her application to be valid.
- The applicant must attach self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents (academic proofs, caste/ category certificates, etc.). Applications received without complete documents will be immediately rejected.
- The application/ registration fee as prescribed for the academic session has to be paid via demand draft. The same must be attached to the enclosure at the time of submission of application form.

- The location of the college is quite accesible and convinient for students frkm any part of the city. It is registered with the Calcutta University which is renowned in West Bengal.
- The fees is very affordable and the college has pg's around. This is a morning college and very suitable for students who wants to engage in a job beside studying.
Dislikes
- There is no placement facility. Hardly recruiters visiting.
- Campus is not very clean, just like any other government campus.
Admission:
The admission process was quite smooth. All of it was online. But one thing to mention, we had to wait in question to deposit forms before each semester, did it the old school way! Honours is a three year course with each year comprising of two semesters. The apication forms and fees will be posted and updates in the college website from time to time. Keep an eye on the notice board of the website. Links are frequently available.

- College is pretty good. Teachers are really good. They help us with notes practicals and anything we need.
- Practical labs are good with all the proper infrastructure.
Dislikes
- Toilets are not clean. They should be cleaned properly.

The admission process was smooth. I got admitted to this college based on the 12th mark. The admission cut off. For Bengali hons. is 80%. I don't have any reservations. The admission procedure is good, no need for any changes.

There's no entrance exam. Eligibility is 12th pass. Above 70% for honors and above 40% for general. Application forms are found on the college website and they share every detail there regarding the admission process. There are reservation benefits available as the college has seat for Reserved students and the eligibility criteria is a bit low.

The students need to pass their 10+2 examination from west bengal board or any other board with a minimum aggregate of 40% . The students must also english as one of their main subjects in10+2. You have to fill the application form online from the college website and application form is free. The admission fees is 4000.

I have done Bsc in Botany with 72% marks Vijaygarh Jyotish Roy college then I applied here in M.sc in Botany in Jogmaya Devi College for M.sc. Here the eligibility for this course is you have to pass your graduation in Botany honors with a minimum of 45% marks. Then you can apply here. But the competition is very high so you need a minimum of 60% marks to pursue M.sc here. In my case, I got 72% in Bsc so I got admitted here easily. Here no entrance exam was taken. Everything is based on the merit list. One thing is that this college is only for girls. So you have to be a girl to be eligible here. You will find the application form on the college website www.jogomayadevicollege.ac.in. The admission fee is Rs 23000 which is comparatively high. Yes, there is reservation seats available for minority & other's university candidate.
Admission:
Jogamaya Devi college is the morning session of Asutosh College under Calcutta University. It is located at Hazra. You can easily visit our college by metro (Jatin Das Park metro, gate no 1). Metrophobiac people can try the bus as well (Hazra Stoppage). Its timing is generally from 6.15 am to 11 am (summer) and in winter 7 am to 11.30 am. So, after attending classes in the morning you will have enough time to study or doing your preferable work. The library has all the books availability. Canteen is on the top floor, So students mainly prefer to eat outside rather than a canteen. Faculties were nice and knowledgeable. Laboratories are also good. Lab attendants were well trained. All the colleges under Calcutta University follow the same syllabus. It is not an autonomous college. Practical classes are more regular than theory classes. Students mainly depend on coachings for theory classes. Official staffs are a little bit irritated but their service depends on your behaviour too.
Admission:
There is no such activities you have to face. To get admission only your 12th grade marks will examine. If you want to take this subject then make sure that you are student of pure science. You have to take chemistry and mathematics in your 12th grade.
Remarks:
Since i belong to poor family and my family's financial condition is not good so my father decided and told that to take admission in as the total program fees is much modarate to be payable by my family. The only thing I like about this college is it demands very low fees.

It's Morning College, that's the main reason I took admission over here.And then transport availability.Though it's morning college but generally the classes helds around 8 a.m.sometimes 9.30, (basically I'm not a early riser,but I have other works to do,and after getting back home I have times to study or to do other things.so I had to chose morning college). that's it.
