Ques. Do I need to clear the MSU PhD Entrance Exam if I have already qualified UGC NET or CSIR NET?
Ans. No. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/JRF or CSIR NET/JRF are exempted from the MSU PhD Qualifying Entrance Examination. They can directly register for counselling by paying the prescribed registration fee of Rs. 3,000 to MSU. However, they still need to apply through the MSU online portal, select their preferred Research Centre and Supervisor, and appear for the interview/counselling process at the MSU campus. The JRF qualification also makes you eligible for the monthly fellowship stipend of Rs. 37,000, which significantly reduces the financial burden of pursuing a full-time PhD.
Ques. What is the total cost of pursuing a full-time PhD in Mathematics at St. Xavier's College, Palayamkottai?
Ans. The annual fee is approximately Rs. 29,600 (Rs. 4,600 college fee + Rs. 25,000 MSU university fee). For the minimum duration of 3 years, the total fee comes to approximately Rs. 88,800.
