DME LLM FAQs
Ques. What is the scope of LLM in ADR in India? Is it a good career choice?
Ans. ADR is one of the fastest-growing areas of legal practice in India, driven by the government's push to reduce court pendency and the rise of institutional arbitration. Graduates with LLM ADR specialization are in demand for roles in arbitration institutions, international law firms, corporate legal departments (for contract dispute management), and as independent mediators and arbitrators. India's Arbitration and Conciliation Act amendments and the establishment of the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC) have further boosted career prospects. For those interested in international law, specialization in international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration opens doors to global opportunities.
Ques. What is the total fee for LLM ADR at DME? Are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The total fee for the entire 1-year LLM ADR program at DME is Rs. 1,34,700 (as per the official 2026 brochure). This includes tuition fee, university charges, examination fee, innovation fee, and development charges. DME alumni receive a 20% scholarship, reducing the total to approximately Rs. 1,07,760. No capitation fee is charged at DME. Hostel is optional and charged separately. Always verify the exact fee from the official GGSIPU fee notification or directly from DME before admission.
Ques. Can I get admission to DME LLM ADR without CLAT PG?
Ans. CLAT PG is the primary and mandatory entrance exam for LLM admission at all GGSIPU-affiliated colleges, including DME. There is no alternative entrance exam route for LLM at DME. However, 10% of seats are available under Management Quota, which is merit-based with an interview and does not require CLAT PG. For Management Quota inquiries, contact info@dme.ac.in or visit the campus.
Ques. What is the difference between LLM ADR and LLM Corporate Law at DME? Which one should I choose?
Ans. LLM ADR at DME focuses on mediation, conciliation, negotiation, international commercial arbitration, and international investment arbitration. It is ideal for those targeting arbitration practice, international law, dispute resolution roles, and careers as independent mediators or arbitrators. LLM Corporate Law focuses on corporate management and governance, capital market regulation, corporate taxation, banking and insolvency laws, and corporate finance and securities regulation. It is ideal for those targeting corporate law firms, in-house legal departments, and financial regulatory bodies. Choose ADR if your interest lies in dispute resolution and international law; choose Corporate Law if your interest is in transactional and regulatory corporate work.
Ques. Does the LLM ADR at DME count toward the 3-year practice-at-bar requirement for judicial services?
Ans. Yes. As per the current eligibility criteria for Judicial Service exams, pursuing LLM at a recognized institution counts as practice at bar under the 3-year mandatory requirement. This means LLM ADR students at DME can simultaneously fulfill the practice requirement, prepare for judiciary exams through DME's Judicial Training Academy (JTA), and earn a postgraduate law degree, all within the same 1-year period. This makes the LLM ADR program at DME particularly strategic for judiciary aspirants.
Ques. Is the 85% Delhi seat reservation applicable for LLM ADR at DME as well?
Ans. Yes, the 85% Delhi-domicile seat reservation applies to all GGSIPU-affiliated programs, including LLM ADR at DME. Out of 30 seats for LLM ADR, approximately 25-26 seats are reserved for Delhi-domicile candidates, and only 4-5 seats are available for outside-Delhi candidates. This makes it significantly more competitive for non-Delhi candidates. If you are from outside Delhi, you will need a strong CLAT PG rank to secure admission. The Management Quota (10% of seats) does not have the Delhi domicile restriction and is an alternative route for non-Delhi candidates.
