TCET MBA FAQs
Ques. Is TCET's MBA program recognized and affiliated? What is the value of the degree in the job market?
Ans. TCET's MBA program is approved by AICTE and affiliated to the University of Mumbai, which is one of India's oldest and most recognized universities. The degree carries the same value as any University of Mumbai MBA degree. Since TCET is an autonomous institute with NAAC "A" grade accreditation and strong industry connections (Accenture, TATA Technologies, CISCO, etc.), the degree is well-regarded, especially for roles in Mumbai's corporate sector. However, since the MBA program was only established in AY 2024-25, placement track records specific to MBA are still being built.
Ques. What MAH-MBA CET percentile is typically required for admission to TCET's MBA program?
Ans. TCET's MBA program, being a relatively new program (started 2024-25) with a large intake of 180 seats, is generally accessible to candidates with moderate MAH-MBA CET scores. Based on general trends for Mumbai colleges with similar profiles, candidates with 70-85 percentile in MAH-MBA CET typically secure admission. For the All India Quota (15% seats), a valid CAT or CMAT score is required, and the threshold is comparatively lower than top-tier IIMs or JBIMS. It is advisable to check the official DTE Maharashtra CAP allotment lists once published for exact cutoffs.
Ques. Can students from outside Maharashtra apply for TCET's MBA program?
Ans. Yes, students from outside Maharashtra can apply under the 15% All India Quota (OMS - Outside Maharashtra State) seats. These seats are filled through CAT (conducted by IIMs) and CMAT (conducted by AICTE) scores via the DTE Maharashtra CAP process. OMS candidates are not required to appear for MAH-MBA CET but must register on the CET Cell portal during CAP rounds. Note that OMS candidates are not required to submit a domicile certificate but must produce their graduation marksheets and migration certificate.
Ques. What specializations are available in TCET's MBA program and how are they allocated?
Ans. TCET's MBA program offers four specializations: Finance, Marketing, Human Resource (HR), and Operations Management. Specialization allocation is typically done at the end of the first year based on student preference and academic performance. Finance and Marketing are generally the most sought-after specializations. The curriculum for each specialization includes core management subjects in the first year and specialization-specific electives in the second year, along with a mandatory industry internship/project.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for MBA students at TCET?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at TCET is available but not guaranteed - it is subject to availability. TCET has multiple hostel options managed by Zagdusingh Charitable Trust, including Mahadev Hostel (Boys), Kelipada Students Hostel, and ASPIRE Students Hostel (co-ed). Monthly rents range from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 14,300 depending on the hostel and floor. Students interested in hostel accommodation should apply early (typically at the time of admission in August-September) as seats are limited. Hostel fees are paid yearly and are non-refundable.
Ques. What is the fee refund policy if a student cancels admission after joining TCET's MBA program?
Ans. Fee refund for MBA admissions at TCET follows the DTE/ARA (Admission Regulating Authority) guidelines of Maharashtra. Under these rules, if a student cancels before the last date of admission, a proportionate refund is given after deducting a processing fee. If cancellation happens after the last date of admission, the refund amount reduces significantly. The Library Deposit (Rs. 2,000) and Laboratory Deposit (Rs. 3,000) are refundable upon leaving the institute with no dues. Hostel fees, once paid, are non-refundable under any circumstances; only the security deposit is returned with prior notice. Students are advised to carefully review the DTE refund schedule before cancelling admission.
