Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya was established in 1985 at Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It offers undergraduate courses under Departments of Science, Arts, Music and Commerce.
Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya offers B.Mus. (Honours/Major) under department of Music. Under department of Science it offers B.Sc. General and Hons. courses in subjects like Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Under department of Arts, it offers B.A. program in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Political Science and Sociology etc. Under department of Commerce, B. Com (Hons) and B. Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya BA, BSc and BCom Admission 2024
Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya offers three-year degree courses of B.A., BCom and B.Sc. at the undergraduate level. For both Honors and General courses candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from WBCHSE Board or any other recognized board or an examination recognized by University of Calcutta.
Candidates holding Diploma Course conducted by State Board of Technical Education are also eligible for admission. Admissions are conducted by the college itself through the merit of aggregate marks at 10+2 level examination.

Key points for admission:
- Candidate taking up honors course in a subject must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination (in case of B.Mus. Hons. 45% marks in aggregate and 40% in Music)
- However, candidates belonging to the SC/ST community taking up Honours Course of study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects.
Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya Application Process 2024
Applications are invited from students who have passed H.S. (10 + 2) examination. The application form can be filled on official website of Sonarpur Mahavidyalaya for the session 2022-23. Eligible candidates seeking admissions must do so by applying in online mode following the given steps.
- Open the online admission portal.
- Fill up all the fields very carefully.
- Upload the scanned copy of Photo, Signature, 10+2 Admit Card and Mark Sheet.
- For more than one application, students have to apply separately.
- Submit the application form and take a printout of it for future reference.
- The cost of application is INR 500 which is to be submitted at the time of completing the online application through bank challan.
- Make sure to keep its student copy and college copy safe for further use.
- After publication of merit list, students must take a printout of Provisional Admission Challan and submit it to the bank before the due date.
- After that as per the schedule mentioned on college notice board they will have to verify their documents and submit the tuition fee.
Documents that have to be submitted with the application form:
- Class 10th and 12th Mark Sheets, Certificates
- Character, Migration and Medical Fitness Certificate
- Domicile Certificate and Caste Category Certificate (if applicable)
- Aadhar Card and four coloured passport size photographs.
