Ramjas College, New Delhi

Both Ramjas and Sri Venkateswara are reputed colleges under Delhi University. According to the reviews online Sri Venkateswara (SVC) is better when it comes to commerce than Ramjas.

SVC has better placements, faculty and overall exposure. Both colleges are very much involved in cultural activities and extracurriculars. If you are willing to opt for a science course then go for Ramjas, Commerce is better in SVC. They both have no strict rules to maintain a 75% attendance, you should just have enough to sit for the internals.

Students who are unable to sit in the internals due to their involvement in clubs and societies have to submit an ECA to their teacher. This is possible in both the colleges.

Ramjas has a better infrastructure than SVC. But all these do not matter much, if you are dedicated to your studies, you can succeed in any college. Choose the college nearer to you, the north or the south campus.

Ramjas is a very popular north campus college under Delhi University. It is one of the oldest institutions established under DU, thus holding a great reputation.

Overall, the college has a great student crowd, who are competitive enough to keep the standard of education high. It has a great infrastructure with all the necessary facilities required by the students. Thus opting for this will prove to be a good choice.

One of my friends studied at Ramjas College, Delhi. According to him, it is a really great institution as it is one of the oldest and experienced colleges under DU. His life at Ramjas was fulfilling with new experiences that shaped him up as an individual.

• They have a very helpful and friendly faculty. They even being in such respected positions talked with the students with enough humility.
• The seniors are also friendly and very cooperative. They will guide you properly through your academic year. You will not find them to be intimidating.
• Ramjas is very lenient with attendance. You can take leaves to prepare for other exams or extracurricular activities.
• They have active societies and clubs which include dance, drama, music, quiz, entrepreneurship, coding, games, etc.
• Students can take part in them to improve their skills. It helps with the holistic development of the students.
• The college canteen is a two storey building with the first floor being fully air conditioned, and a rooftop. 
• Although the first floor hardly remains open as it generally gets utilized for presentations or seminars.
• You will get to explore many hangout spots surrounding the college.

The one thing that Ramjas lacks is a good and cooperative administration. They are very unresponsive and sometimes do not pay any attention to the students' problems and queries. But overall the college is really good and apt for a students intellectual and holistic development.

No, the attendance norms were not strictly followed at Ramjas College. But this does not mean you can skip classes as you will. Yes, the college is a bit lenient when it comes to submitting assignments on time and having regular classes but the students have to take the internals on time.

As per the new batches, there are 5 marks for attendance which no one acquires because then you need to have to maintain more than 75–80% attendance. It becomes impossible for students who are involved with societies so they submit ECA sheets to the teacher. This is done only if you desperately need the 5 marks or if you are not being allowed to sit for the internals.

Among Ramjas and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC) it is better if you go for the latter.

• The student crowd of SGGSCC are friendly and maintain a healthy competition with their peer groups. This is not the same in Ramjas, the crowd here are more aloof and distant towards each other.
• Being a college dedicated only to commerce, SGGSCC has better placements. They do not have to scatter their focus in all streams like Ramjas.
• SGGSCC has more culturally active clubs and societies students can take part in which will help in their holistic development. 
• SGGSCC also has a better infrastructure than Ramjas. They have a huge library with 2 floors and fully air conditioned. 
• The auditorium of SGGSCC has theatre seats with AC. Ramjas hardly has any placements for B.Com Hons or Economic Hons.

Therefore it is suggested that you go for SGGSCC to pursue a B.Com Honours rather than selecting Ramjas College.
