Panihati Mahavidyalaya or Panihati Mahavidyalaya came into existence in 1974 at Kolkata. It got affiliation by West Bengal Council of Higher Education in 1976. The institution is now affiliated with West Bengal State University for conducting degree courses. The institution has UGC approval and is accredited by NAAC.
Panihati Vidyalaya offers three academic programs namely Science, Arts and Commerce that offers B.Sc, BA and B.Com courses in different subjects. A candidate must satisfy either of the following conditions
- Must have passed higher secondary or 10+2 exam from a recognised Board/University with minimum 50% in aggregate and 45% marks in the related subject
- Minimum 55% marks in the related subject at qualifying exam
- Minimum 50% marks in aggregate if the subject is not studied during qualifying exam
Reserved category candidates are required to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate and related subjects.
Those who have passed 10+2 from open or vocational schools are also eligible to apply.

Selection is on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2. Admission is not allowed after 3 years after passing the qualifying exam. After filling the application form, students will be intimated regarding their selection status.
They will have to complete the admission fee payment within the mentioned schedule and time. If they delay in doing so, the admission status shall be changed to cancelled.

Selection is on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2. Admission is not allowed after 3 years after passing the qualifying exam. The year of admission will not be considered for calculating the 3 years.
The final selection list will be made and candidates will be personally intimated regarding their selection status.
