Maharaja’s College UG Course Eligibility Criteria-

  • For admission to any B.A. or the integrated program, the applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination as recognized by the Mahatma Gandhi University.
  • For admission to any B.Sc. programme, the applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination as recognized by the Mahatma Gandhi University, and the core course they choose for the B.Sc. programme should be one of the subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • Applicants who have passed qualifying examinations other than the Kerala Higher Secondary Education, Kerala VHSE, Kerala THSE, CBSE, or CISCE will be admitted only if those exams have been declared equivalent to the qualifying examinations of Mahatma Gandhi University.
  • After the last date of submission of the online application, an aptitude test will be conducted in the college for the applicants of B.A. Music program to test their basic knowledge in Carnatic Music (from saptaswaras to alankaras). Applicants not qualified in the aptitude test shall not be considered for allotment to that programme.

Maharaja’s College UG Course Selection Process-

  • At the close of the application, the index mark of all the eligible applicants will be calculated for preparing the rank list.
  • While calculating the index mark, mark obtained in the qualifying examinations of boards other than the Kerala State Higher Secondary Education, such as CBSE and CISCE, shall be standardised to that of Kerala Higher Secondary Examination, where the maximum mark is 1200.
  • Mark obtained for vocational/technical subjects in VHSE, THSE, etc., shall be excluded while Calculating the index mark.
  • For the applicants to B.A. Music programme, the mark obtained in the aptitude test shall also be included while calculating the index mark of that program. There will be 50% weightage each for the marks in the qualifying examination and the aptitude test; both the marks will be standardised out of 1200 for the purpose. Applicants not qualified in the aptitude test shall not be considered for allotment in B.A. Music.

Maharaja’s College PG Course Eligibility Criteria-

  • Candidates should have passed the corresponding UG exam under the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern with one core/main subject and two complementary/subsidiary subjects from any of the universities in Kerala or from any university recognized by Mahatma Gandhi University
    OR
  • Candidates who have passed the UG Exam with double main or triple main subject, or candidates who have passed the Degree Examination in vocational or specialized programs, are also eligible for admission.
  • Applicants who have passed B.Com. (Model I, II or III), Vocational B.A./B.Sc. (Model II/III – CBCSS or Pre-CBCSS except B.A. Communicative English Model III Triple main pre-CBCSS pattern) and new-generation programmes are not eligible to apply for M.A.
  • For each M.A. program, 75% of the total seats are reserved for applicants who have graduated (i.e., the Core Course/Main under Part III of their undergraduate programme) in the same subject of the M.A. program.
  • For M.A. Music, two seats shall be created over and above the sanctioned strength for admitting applicants with a graduation in faculties other than music. The eligibility of such applicants for M.A. Music shall be determined based on the performance in an aptitude test conducted for such applicants in the college, after the last date of submission of the online application. In the aptitude test, the applicants should perform an atatalavarna, Ragalapana, Niraval, and Kalpanaswara for any one of the compositions.

Maharaja’s College PG Course Selection Criteria-

  • At the close of the application, the index mark of all the applicants will be calculated for preparing the rank list.
  • For preparing the rank list of applicants qualified under CBCSS (direct grading or indirect grading), the CGPA/CCPA secured for Part III Core group (Core + Complementary courses) shall be converted into mark out of 1000, unless otherwise mentioned.
  • For preparing the rank list of applicants qualified under the Pre-CBCSS pattern, the mark obtained in the qualifying examination in Part III subjects shall be standardized into mark out of 1000, unless otherwise mentioned.
  • Wherever a letter grade is given for the qualifying examination, the applicant should produce the relevant conversion document so that the grade can be converted into mark out of 1000.
  • In the case of a grade where mark range is given, the mid value will be taken for computation of index mark.
  • Once the relevant mark of the qualifying examination is converted as above, weightage mark and bonus mark are added, and negative marks are deducted to arrive at the index mark.

Maharaja’s College Application Process 2025

Maharaja’s College Application Process involves various steps, which are as follows-

  • Online Application
  1. The online application should be made from the admission portal maharaja's college online admission of the college.
  2. Only one application can be submitted by an applicant. Application to all eligible programmes (subject to a specified maximum) shall be made in a single online application.

(c) All categories of applicants should register and apply online and upload the required documents.

  • Registration
  1. Before applying, all applicants should register in the online portal. For registration, the email address, mobile phone number, and category of the applicant should be provided.
  2. An application fee at the following rates should be paid online by the applicant to complete the registration process.

  • Application Form

(a) After registration and payment of the application fee, the applicants can log in to the website using their email address as username. After logging in, the other basic personal and academic details of the applicant need to be entered.

(b) Applicants have to upload a recent photograph, signature, and required documents.

  • Order of Preference

Applicants can choose the programs to which they are applying. They can choose a maximum of five eligible programs as per their preference. Applicants should choose the programs as well as the order of preference carefully, since allotments to the programs will be based on the preference order.

  • Submission of Application
  1. Before submitting, the applicants should verify the details furnished and the order of programs preference. After verification, the application can be submitted.
  2. Upon successful submission, an application form will be generated containing an application number. The printout of the application form (with application number) should be kept by the applicants and should be submitted at the time of admission along with other documents.
  3. The printout of the application shall not be sent to the college.

  • For applicants with valid NSS Certificates, a bonus of 15 marks will be added while calculating the index mark for all programs.
  • For applicants with valid Rajyapuraskar/Nanmamudra certificates in Scouts/Guides/Rover/Ranger, a bonus of 15 marks will be added.
  • For applicants with valid Student Police Cadets Certificates, a bonus mark of 15 shall be added while calculating the index mark for all programs.

Ans. Yes, Maharaja’s College provides negative marking while calculating Index marks under the following criterion-

In the case of those who have taken two or more chances to complete the examination, five marks each for every additional attempt after the first attempt, subject to a maximum of 20 marks, shall be deducted while calculating the index mark. Accordingly, the Negative marks will be as given in the following table-

Ques. How does Maharaja’s College takes decision on candidates having same Index Marks?

Ans. To decide relative rank among applicants having the same index mark for a program at Maharaja’s College, following tie-breaking principles will be applied one after another in the given order:

  • The applicant with higher mark in the subject concerned in the qualifying examination shall be placed higher in ranking. For B.Com, Business Studies (Commerce) shall be considered as the elective subject.
  • The applicant with higher mark in Part III subjects (or the subjects other than languages, if Part is not specified) taken together shall be placed higher in ranking.
  • The applicant with higher mark in Part I (mark of English, if Part is not specified) shall be placed higher in ranking.
  • The applicant with higher mark in Part II (mark of the Additional Language if Part is not specified) shall be placed higher in ranking.

Ques. What is the seat allotment process at Maharaja’s College?

Ans. The allotment process of seats at Maharaja’s College are as follows-

First Allotment

  • The first allotment list will be published on the website on the date to be notified. Applicants have to check the details of allotment. The allotment list consists of only those applicants who are provisionally selected for admission to a program under each category
  • Applicants included in the allotment list will be given two options: either ‘accept’ or ‘decline’ the admission in the currently allotted programme. Applicants who wish to join the allotted programme should accept the allotment. Those who do not wish to join the current allotment should invariably decline the current allotment and wait for further allotments.

Cancellation of Preferences after an Allotment

With the publication of an allotment, all the preferences lower than the allotted one will automatically be removed from the preference list of the applicant.

Allotment Memo: Applicants who ‘accept’ the allotment can download the allotment memo from their profile. The allotment memo has to be produced at the time of admission.

Reporting for Admission: After allotments, all applicants who downloaded the allotment memo shall be directed to report at the department concerned of the college for admission on a specified date and time. At the time of admission, applicants have to produce all certificates/documents, including the allotment memo, required to prove their claims in the application, and pay the fees

Verification of Documents

The Head of the Department concerned shall verify the correctness of the records produced by the applicant at the time of admission.

Supplementary Allotments

  • Supplementary allotments are made if there are unfilled seats in any category for a programme after the start of admissions. Applicants who get allotment in supplementary/further allotments shall follow the instructions in the above clauses.
  • If there are unfilled seats in any category for a program after supplementary allotments, spot allotments for the applicants included in the rank list shall be conducted at the time and date specified later.

I chose maharajas college because this college have vast chemistry department and good faculties. College offers many programs and have space for art and sports this make me college favourite.
