Kidderpore College, a government-aided co-educational college, was founded in the year 1966 by Sri Jitendranath Bandyopadhyay. Kidderpore Academy is a school adjacent to the present college building. His vision was to open up the doors of higher education to the wards of the poor residents of the locality. The college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Along with the Bengali-speaking students, some students speak Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, and Oriya. This area occupies a special position in the cultural map of Kolkata. Kidderpore was the residence of three notable nineteenth-century Bengali poets — Michael Madhusudan Dutta, Hemchandra Bandyopadhyay, and Rangalal Bandyopadhyay.
Kidderpore College offers undergraduate courses that are BA, Bcom, and B.Sc with multiple specializations. The college has a few good facilities are AC classroom, a Wi-Fi campus, Modern laboratories with a computer lab and a Library with book bank facilities.
