When planning the teaching for new examinations, teachers will look at the specification to see whether the content has changed, and they will look at the sample assessment materials. These sample assessment materials are a crucial tool in the planning process, after all they show what the students are expected to be able to do at the end of the course. The assessment makes explicit what the specification statements really mean.
