Keshav Mahavidyalaya BA (Hons.) Psychology FAQs

Ques. Can I become a clinical psychologist directly after completing B.A. (Hons.) Psychology from Keshav Mahavidyalaya?

Ans. No, a B.A. (Hons.) Psychology degree alone does not qualify you to practice as a clinical psychologist in India. After graduation, you need to pursue M.A./M.Sc. Psychology, followed by an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology (RCI-recognized) to become a licensed clinical psychologist. The DU B.A. (Hons.) Psychology programme, however, provides an excellent foundation for this pathway, and DU graduates have a strong track record in competitive M.Phil. admissions at NIMHANS, IHBAS, and other top institutes.

Ques. Is Psychology at Keshav Mahavidyalaya a good choice for someone who wants to go into HR or organizational behaviour?

Ans. Yes, B.A. (Hons.) Psychology from a DU college like Keshav Mahavidyalaya is a recognized and respected pathway into HR and organizational behaviour. After graduation, students can pursue MBA (HR) from top B-schools via CAT/XAT, or M.A. in Organizational Psychology. The psychology background gives a strong edge in understanding human behaviour, motivation, and group dynamics -- all critical for HR roles.

Ques. Is the CUET score the only criterion for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Psychology at Keshav Mahavidyalaya?

Ans. Yes, for the academic session 2026-27, admission is entirely based on CUET (UG) 2026 scores. Class XII marks are not directly considered for merit. You must appear in Psychology as a domain subject in CUET, along with at least one language paper.

Ques. What is the scope of B.A. (Hons.) Psychology from DU after graduation -- can I get a job directly?

Ans. Direct job opportunities after a B.A. (Hons.) Psychology are limited in India. Most well-paying roles in psychology require at least a master's degree. However, graduates can find entry-level roles in HR, content writing, NGOs, social work, and counselling support roles. For clinical, educational, or organizational psychology careers, pursuing M.A./M.Sc. Psychology is strongly recommended. The DU degree is highly valued for postgraduate admissions at top universities.

Ques. Is hostel facility available for B.A. (Hons.) Psychology students at Keshav Mahavidyalaya?

Ans. Hostel facility is available only for girl students at Keshav Mahavidyalaya. For B.A. (Hons.) Psychology, 2 hostel seats are allocated for first-year students. Admission is merit-based (CUET rank) and preference is given to outstation/NCR students residing more than 60 km from the college. The annual hostel fee is Rs. 84,600 (fresh admission) plus Rs. 3,500 per month for mess.

Ques. How many seats are available in B.A. (Hons.) Psychology at Keshav Mahavidyalaya, and what is the reservation breakdown?

Ans. The total seat intake is 32. The category-wise distribution is: Unreserved (UR) - 13 seats, SC - 5 seats, ST - 2 seats, OBC-NCL - 9 seats, and EWS - 3 seats. Additional supernumerary seats are available for Sports, ECA, CW (Children/Widows of Armed Forces), Kashmiri Migrants, and PwBD candidates.
