B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science at Keshav Mahavidyalaya (KMV), a constituent college of the University of Delhi, is a 3-year (6-semester) multidisciplinary undergraduate programme under the NEP 2020 framework, with an optional 4th year for Honours with Research. The programme combines Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, offering students a broad foundation in quantitative and computational disciplines. Core areas include Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Data Structures, Database Management Systems, and Programming in C++/Python. The annual fees are Rs. 13,480 for General/OBC/EWS category students, and the total seat intake is 59 seats. Admission is based on CUET (UG) scores through the DU Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). The programme is popular for its interdisciplinary approach, lower fees compared to B.Sc (Hons.) Computer Science, and strong career prospects in data science, analytics, and IT.

Admissions for the 2026-27 session are upcoming. CUET UG 2026 registration was open from January 3 to February 26, 2026, and the exam is scheduled from May 11 to May 31, 2026. The DU CSAS portal for seat allocation is expected to open in the third week of June 2026, with allotment rounds likely in July-August 2026. Based on the 2025 admission cycle, the first allotment round is expected around the third week of July 2026, with classes commencing in August 2026.

Keshav Mahavidyalaya: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 10 Reviews

Admission to the course is based on Class 12 CBSE scores, with a cut-off mark of 82 in 2014. Admission is secured through document verification on the first day of the admission list at Delhi University. The college faculty is generally experienced, especially in operations research and data science, although some temporary teachers lack experience. The faculty-to-student ratio supports effective learning, although instances of favoritism exist. Exams are manageable with minimal preparation.

The annual course fee is approximately Rs 10,000, totaling around Rs 40,000 for the full program, with various scholarships available for economically weaker sections and reserved categories. Reputable companies such as EY, BCG, and Amazon visit for placements, offering the highest package of 12 lakh per annum and an average of 5.5 lakh, with 50-60% of students securing jobs, mainly in B.Com and BMS programs. The college's internship fair leads to limited placements, with less than 1% securing positions in some cases.

Students are eligible for placements from the 5th or 6th semester, undergoing an aptitude test, group discussion, and personal interview. Internship stipends range from 1,000 to 5,000 INR. Scholarships and financial aid are offered, particularly for EWS and reserved categories, with a 10,000 INR scholarship for top-performing students. The mathematics science course fee is around 10,000 INR annually, totaling about 30,000 INR, much lower than fees at private colleges. Hostel fees are approximately 75,000 INR per year, excluding mess charges.

Students can apply for one scholarship at Delhi University, with guidance available from college administration or faculty. Overall, the placement and internship experience is average, with a focus on learning rather than immediate employment.

KMV B.Sc Mathematical Sciences FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science and B.Sc (Hons.) Computer Science at KMV?

Ans. B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science is a multidisciplinary programme combining Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, with 59 seats and annual fees of Rs. 13,480. B.Sc (Hons.) Computer Science is a single-discipline honours programme focused entirely on computer science, with 115 seats and higher fees of Rs. 28,300/year. The Hons. CS programme is more rigorous and specialised in computer science, while the Mathematical Sciences programme offers a broader quantitative foundation. Students aiming for a career in data science, analytics, or actuarial science may find the Mathematical Sciences programme equally or more relevant.

Ques. What career options are available after B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science from KMV?

Ans. Graduates can pursue: (a) Higher studies such as MCA, M.Sc Computer Science, M.Sc Mathematics, M.Sc Statistics, M.Sc Data Science, or MBA; (b) Data analyst, business analyst, or quantitative analyst roles in IT, finance, and consulting companies; (c) Software development roles (with the CS component of the programme); (d) Actuarial science (by clearing actuarial exams); (e) Government jobs through competitive exams like SSC CGL, IBPS, or civil services.

Ques. Is B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences a good option if I could not get B.Sc (Hons.) CS at KMV?

Ans. Yes, B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science is a strong alternative if you could not secure B.Sc (Hons.) CS. The programme covers core CS topics like Data Structures, DBMS, and Programming, along with a strong Mathematics and Statistics foundation. Many employers and higher education institutions value the quantitative skills from this programme. However, if your primary goal is a career in pure software development or IT, B.Sc (Hons.) CS would be a better fit.

Ques. What CUET subjects should I choose for B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences at KMV?

Ans. For B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science at KMV, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics is the mandatory domain subject in CUET. You should also appear in at least one Language from List A and any other subjects from List B. Scoring well in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics is the most critical factor for admission, as merit is primarily based on this score.

Ques. Are there hostel facilities for B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences students at KMV?

Ans. Yes, but only for female students (outstation/NCR). The Girls' Hostel at KMV has 78 total seats, with 3 seats allocated per year for B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences students. Allotment is strictly merit-based (CUET rank) and subject to availability. The hostel fee for fresh admission is Rs. 84,600 per year, plus mess charges of Rs. 3,500 per month. Male students do not have hostel facilities at KMV.

Ques. Can I pursue MCA after completing B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences from KMV?

Ans. Yes, B.Sc (Prog.) Mathematical Sciences with Computer Science graduates are eligible to apply for MCA (Master of Computer Applications) programmes at various universities. Many MCA entrance exams (like NIMCET) require Mathematics as a subject in graduation, which this programme fulfils. The combination of Mathematics and Computer Science in this programme provides a strong foundation for MCA studies.
