About GIM Goa FPM

GIM Goa offers a four-year, full-time Fellow Programme in Management, its doctoral course, on its residential campus in North Goa. The regular track takes ten scholars a year and the executive track another ten. GIM holds AACSB accreditation and stands #41 in Collegedunia's Management ranking 2026. Should you pick FPM at GIM Goa?

This course suits people who want a career in research and teaching, and who can live on a Goa campus for four years.

Pick it if:
You cannot pay for four more years of study: the stipend is INR 62,000 a month and the campus room is free.
You have no CAT or GMAT score: GIM does not ask for an exam score, so your papers and the interview decide the seat.
You want a research topic outside the usual: GIM lists twelve areas, from healthcare management to public policy and big data analytics.
You want the fee to feel small: the whole course fee is INR 42,000, less than one month of the stipend.
Skip it if:
You need a big city around you: the campus sits in North Goa and the regular track asks you to live on it.
You want to keep your job: only the executive track allows that, and it asks for five years of work in a close role.
You want a written test to prove yourself: the interview carries 40% of the score here and the research proposal another 20%.
You want a company job after this: FPM scholars here move into teaching and research work, not corporate roles.
Counsellor's advice
If teaching is your plan and your research idea is ready, apply in the early round: only ten regular seats open each year and the interview list is drawn from the papers you send. If the idea is still vague, wait a year.

Executive track: At least five years of work in a role close to your research area.
Papers you send: A statement of purpose, a research proposal and two letters of recommendation.
FPM Admission Process

Accept and join: Offers went out in Apr 2026; you pay the year-1 registration fee and report on campus.

Will your marks get you an FPM seat at GIM Goa?

Pick your marks and your track. The cards show the one hard rule and what decides the rest.

Master's marks
Track
60% and above · Regular track
You clear the only hard rule. GIM does not ask for an exam score, so your research proposal and the online interview decide the seat.
60% and above · Executive track
You clear the marks rule. The executive track also asks for at least five years of work in a role close to your research.
Below 60% · Regular track
Not this year. GIM asks for at least 60% in a master's degree, or the same grade point average.
Below 60% · Executive track
Not this year. The 60% rule is the same on the executive track, and it also asks for five years of work.
EDITOR'S NOTE

The interview carries 40% of the score, but the research proposal is what gets you the interview call. Write it around one question you can finish in four years.

In short
MDI Gurgaon pays a bigger research grant and takes twice the scholars, but its programme fee is about five lakhs more. If money in hand decides it, GIM Goa is the cheaper seat with the higher stipend.
In short
IMT Ghaziabad matches GIM Goa on seats and pays almost the same stipend, but it charges more and asks for an entrance exam score. If you have no CAT or GMAT score, apply to GIM Goa.
In short
IMI Delhi pays a little more each month and has more seats, but its fee is over six lakhs. If you want the fee to stay near nothing, keep GIM Goa first and IMI Delhi as your backup.
In short
SPJIMR Mumbai charges the highest fee here and pays the least each month during coursework. If a Mumbai address is what you want, take SPJIMR Mumbai; on money, GIM Goa wins.

Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.

GIM Goa: 3 Answered Questions

Which course is better in Goa institute of management?

Utkarsh DevPGDM - Big Data Analytics from Goa Institute of Management (Graduated 2021)

Goa Institute of Management has 2 regular programs

  1. PGDM
  2. PGDM HCM

PGDM: PGDM is its flagship course and is very successful. Its 100% placement percentage is a testament to that. The average salary has been increasing every year and this year stands at INR 12.07 LPA. The companies visiting the campus for recruitment have been loyal by visiting every year. The regular PGDM has much more fees in comparison to PGDM HCM and thus a lower ROI. Also, admission to PGDM is tough owing to tough competition.

PGDM HCM: This program was launched just a few years ago and had few seats. It too boasts of a 100% placement percentage yet its average package at INR 10.40 LPA is lower than PGDM. But some companies come especially for HCM students. The PGDM HCM has fees lower than PGDM and thus offers a higher ROI than regular PGDM. Due to a lack of awareness, the competition is also less tough than PGDM.

Talking about the delivery of the curriculum, the faculty, pedagogy, infrastructure, and facilities are all the same. The students of both programs join together during events. So eventually it’s up to you to decide which course to take.
