Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology (VESIT), Mumbai, offers a 4-year full-time Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDS), a regular on-campus programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by AICTE. The course covers machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, big data analytics, data engineering, and AI ethics, preparing students for roles in data science, AI research, and technology product companies. The total fees for the programme (General category, Maharashtra Board) are approximately Rs 6.09 Lakhs for the full 4-year duration, with 60 seats available. Admission is primarily through MHT CET scores via the Maharashtra CAP process. The AIDS branch is one of the most in-demand engineering specialisations in Mumbai, given the explosive growth of AI and data-driven industries.

Admissions for the 2026-27 batch are upcoming. Based on the 2025-26 cycle, CAP counselling registration typically begins in June-July 2026, with CAP rounds conducted between July and September 2026. The MHT CET 2026 PCM exam was held from April 11-19, 2026, and results are expected by June 16, 2026, after which the CAP process will commence.

The faculty-to-student ratio stands at about 1:63, although typical class sizes vary between 40 to 50 students, fostering an interactive learning atmosphere. The college offers strong placement opportunities, with major recruiters like JP Morgan, Deloitte, EY, and more. Students can participate in campus placements from the 7th semester, with average packages ranging from 4 to 5 lakhs per annum.

Internship options include company and college project internships, which are faculty-mentored. The college's fees are competitive among Mumbai's private engineering colleges, with annual tuition at Rs. 1,30,000. For those qualifying for government scholarships, fees reduce to Rs. 70,000, while SC/ST students may pay none. Spot round admissions incur full fees regardless of caste. Scholarships based on caste and economic status, such as EBC scholarships, cover up to 50% of fees, and female students might receive full tuition waivers.

Despite these financial adjustments, no extra charges beyond official fees are imposed.

VESIT BE AIDS FAQs

Ques. Is BE AIDS at VESIT a good branch for placements compared to CSE or IT?

Ans. BE AIDS is one of the most sought-after branches at VESIT given the high demand for AI and data science professionals. While CSE and IT have a larger and more established recruiter base, AIDS graduates are increasingly being recruited by top tech companies, analytics firms, and startups. The branch is relatively new, so the placement track record is still building, but the industry demand for AI/ML engineers is strong and growing rapidly.

Ques. What MHT CET percentile is required for BE AIDS at VESIT?

Ans. BE AIDS at VESIT is highly competitive. For open category non-minority students, the required MHT CET percentile has typically been in the range of 95-98 percentile in recent years, making it one of the more competitive branches at VESIT. Sindhi minority students benefit from a lower cutoff. It is advisable to check the official cut-off list published by VESIT after each CAP round for the most accurate data.

Ques. What programming languages and tools are taught in BE AIDS at VESIT?

Ans. The BE AIDS curriculum at VESIT covers Python, R, SQL, and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hadoop, Spark, and Tableau. Students also learn cloud platforms like AWS and Azure for data engineering and AI deployment. The autonomous curriculum is regularly updated to include the latest tools and frameworks used in the industry.

Ques. Can BE AIDS graduates from VESIT pursue higher studies in AI or data science?

Ans. Yes, BE AIDS graduates are eligible for M.Tech in AI, Data Science, or Computer Science from IITs, NITs, and other premier institutions through GATE. They can also pursue MS abroad in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science from top international universities. Additionally, MBA programmes with a focus on analytics or technology management are popular choices for AIDS graduates.

Ques. What are the career options after completing BE AIDS from VESIT?

Ans. Graduates can pursue careers as Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, AI Researchers, Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, and NLP Engineers. Industries that actively hire include IT services, e-commerce, fintech, healthcare analytics, and consulting firms. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Amazon, and various AI startups recruit from VESIT's AIDS department.

Ques. How is the AIDS department at VESIT different from a regular CSE department in terms of curriculum?

Ans. The AIDS curriculum at VESIT is specifically designed around artificial intelligence and data science, with dedicated courses in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, NLP, big data, and AI ethics. Unlike CSE, which covers a broader range of topics including systems programming and computer architecture, AIDS focuses more deeply on data-driven technologies. Students in AIDS spend more time on statistical modelling, data engineering pipelines, and AI application development, making them specialists in this domain.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fees are minimal compared to any private engineering college. The fees are 1,25,000 per annum. You get a government scholarship which makes it 70,000 per annum, and if you're from SC/ST just pay ? 0. But taking admission through the spot round will cause you to pay the full fees of ? 1,25,000 respective of your caste. VESIT scholarships are quite less for families of income less than 1 lakhs.
