SJCIT CS Design FAQs
Ques. How is BE Computer Science and Design different from regular CSE at SJCIT?
Ans. BE Computer Science and Design integrates core programming, algorithms, and data structures with dedicated coursework in UI/UX design, multimedia systems, and product design methodologies. Regular CSE does not include these design tracks. CS Design graduates target roles that combine technical and creative skills such as frontend engineering, game development, digital product design, and mobile application UX. The programme was introduced in 2022-23 specifically to address demand for design-aware engineers in entertainment, digital analytics, and product companies.
Ques. What KCET rank is required for BE CS Design at SJCIT?
Ans. The KCET cutoff for Computer Science branches at SJCIT has ranged between roughly 38,000 and 1,65,000 across general and reserved categories in recent rounds. CS Design is a relatively new branch so the cutoff is still stabilising each year. Students can also seek admission through COMEDK UGET for management quota seats using SJCIT code E-108. The most accurate opening and closing rank data will be available on the KEA portal during the option entry window from July 8 to July 29, 2026.
Ques. Does SJCIT have placement support for CS Design graduates?
Ans. SJCIT has a centralised placement cell that supports all departments, including CS Design. While branch-specific placement data for this programme is not yet separately published, the college recorded a median package of INR 5.6 LPA and a highest package of INR 13.96 LPA across departments in 2026. CS Design graduates can target UX design studios, game companies, digital product firms, and mainstream IT employers, along with roles in web development and multimedia production.
Ques. Does SJCIT provide hostel facilities for CS Design students?
Ans. Yes, SJCIT offers optional hostel accommodation. The hostel fee ranges from INR 95,000 to INR 1,20,000 per year depending on room type. This amount is separate from the INR 11,60,000 course fee. Students who intend to use the hostel should contact the college administration to confirm room availability and any advance booking requirement before the academic session begins in August 2026.
Ques. What scholarships are available for BE CS Design students at SJCIT?
Ans. SC and ST students whose family income is below INR 2.5 Lakhs per year can apply for the Karnataka Post-Matric Scholarship, which reimburses the full tuition fee. OBC students with family income below INR 1 Lakh per year can apply for the OBC Post-Matric Scholarship via the National Scholarship Portal.
