SHEAT B.Tech Data Science FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech CSE (Data Science) and B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) at SHEAT? Which should I choose?
Ans. B.Tech CSE (Data Science) focuses on data collection, processing, statistical analysis, data mining, business analytics, and data engineering. B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) focuses more on building intelligent systems using machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and deep learning. If you are interested in working with large datasets, deriving business insights, and building data pipelines, Data Science is the right choice. If you want to build AI-powered applications and intelligent systems, AI & ML is more suitable. Both programmes share a common CSE foundation and have strong industry demand.
Ques. What is the minimum JEE Main score or percentile required for admission to B.Tech CSE (Data Science) at SHEAT?
Ans. SHEAT is a private AKTU-affiliated college, and admissions are primarily through UPTAC counselling based on JEE Main scores. Since SHEAT is not among the top-tier AKTU colleges, students with moderate JEE Main percentiles (generally 40th to 70th percentile) can secure admission. Students who do not have a JEE Main score may also be considered for direct admission based on 10+2 marks, subject to seat availability after UPTAC counselling rounds. It is advisable to register for UPTAC counselling regardless of your score.
Ques. What programming languages and tools are taught in the B.Tech CSE (Data Science) programme at SHEAT?
Ans. The programme covers Python and R as primary programming languages for data science. Students also learn SQL for database management, Hadoop and Spark for big data processing, Tableau and Power BI for data visualisation, and cloud platforms for data storage and analytics. The curriculum also includes statistical tools and libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow. These are industry-standard tools widely used by data scientists and analysts in companies across sectors.
Ques. Does SHEAT offer any industry certifications or additional training for B.Tech CSE (Data Science) students?
Ans. Yes, SHEAT has tie-ups with Hindsol Software, BSNL, BHEL, Babatpur Airport Authority, BLW Varanasi, and InfyTQ (Infosys Certification Programme) for industrial training. Students can earn the InfyTQ certification from Infosys, which is recognised by the IT industry. The college also runs the ELITE (Employability & Leadership through Industrial Training Excellence) programme to enhance students' industry readiness. Students are also encouraged to pursue certifications from NPTEL, Coursera, and other online platforms in data science and analytics.
Ques. What are the career options after completing B.Tech CSE (Data Science) from SHEAT?
Ans. Graduates can work as data analysts, data scientists, business intelligence analysts, data engineers, database administrators, and machine learning engineers. Industries hiring data science graduates include IT, banking and finance, healthcare, e-commerce, manufacturing, and consulting. Companies like TCS, Infosys, HCL, Wipro, Amazon, and Flipkart regularly hire data science graduates. SHEAT's placement cell has facilitated placements with packages ranging from 3-6 Lakhs+ per annum, and the demand for data science professionals is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
Ques. Can I get admission to B.Tech CSE (Data Science) at SHEAT without JEE Main? What is the direct admission process?
Ans. While UPTAC counselling based on JEE Main is the primary admission route, SHEAT does offer direct admission for seats that remain vacant after all UPTAC counselling rounds. For direct admission, students need to visit the SHEAT campus or register online at sheatcollege.com, submit their 10+2 marksheet, and pay the provisional admission fee of Rs. 20,000 (adjustable against the first semester fee). Direct admission is subject to seat availability and is typically processed from August onwards. Students are advised to also register for UPTAC counselling to keep their options open.
