SHEAT B.Tech CSE AI ML FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech CSE and B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) at SHEAT? Which one should I choose?
Ans. B.Tech CSE is a broader programme covering all aspects of computer science including software engineering, databases, networks, and operating systems. B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) is a specialised programme that covers the same core CSE subjects but with additional focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, and data science. If you are specifically interested in AI/ML careers in tech companies, research, or data-driven industries, the specialised programme is a better choice. The annual fee for CSE (AI & ML) is Rs. 1,00,000 compared to Rs. 1,10,000 for regular CSE at SHEAT.
Ques. What is the minimum JEE Main score or percentile required for admission to B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) at SHEAT?
Ans. SHEAT is a private AKTU-affiliated college, and admissions are primarily through UPTAC counselling based on JEE Main scores. Since SHEAT is not among the top-tier AKTU colleges, students with moderate JEE Main percentiles (generally 40th to 70th percentile) can secure admission. Students who do not have a JEE Main score may also be considered for direct admission based on 10+2 marks, subject to seat availability after UPTAC counselling rounds. It is advisable to register for UPTAC counselling regardless of your score to maximise your chances.
Ques. What kind of AI and ML projects do students work on at SHEAT during the B.Tech programme?
Ans. Students in the B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) programme at SHEAT work on projects involving machine learning model development, image recognition, natural language processing applications, predictive analytics, and data visualisation. The college has dedicated labs for Python programming, data structures, and software engineering. Students also undergo industrial training with organisations like Infosys (InfyTQ certification), BSNL, and BHEL, where they get exposure to real-world AI/ML applications. Final year projects are typically industry-oriented and can be done in collaboration with placement partners.
Ques. Does SHEAT offer any industry certifications or additional training for B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) students?
Ans. Yes, SHEAT has tie-ups with Hindsol Software, BSNL, BHEL, Babatpur Airport Authority, BLW Varanasi, and InfyTQ (Infosys Certification Programme) for industrial training. Students can earn the InfyTQ certification from Infosys, which is recognised by the IT industry. The college also runs the ELITE (Employability & Leadership through Industrial Training Excellence) programme to enhance students' industry readiness. Additionally, students are encouraged to pursue certifications from platforms like NPTEL, Coursera, and other online providers.
Ques. What are the placement opportunities for B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) graduates from SHEAT?
Ans. SHEAT's Training & Placement Cell has facilitated placements with over 250 recruiters including TCS, HCL, Infosys, and other technology companies. The highest package reported is 6 Lakhs+ per annum, with average packages in the range of 3-4.5 LPA. For AI/ML specialisation graduates, roles typically include machine learning engineer, data analyst, AI developer, software engineer, and business intelligence analyst. The placement record is improving year on year, and the college provides placement assistance even after graduation.
Ques. Can I get admission to B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) at SHEAT without JEE Main? What is the direct admission process?
Ans. While UPTAC counselling based on JEE Main is the primary admission route, SHEAT does offer direct admission for seats that remain vacant after all UPTAC counselling rounds. For direct admission, students need to visit the SHEAT campus or register online at sheatcollege.com, submit their 10+2 marksheet, and pay the provisional admission fee of Rs. 20,000 (adjustable against the first semester fee). Direct admission is subject to seat availability and is typically processed from August onwards. Students are advised to also register for UPTAC counselling to keep their options open.
