SHEAT B.Ed FAQs
Ques. Is the B.Ed degree from SHEAT (MGKVP affiliated) valid for government school teaching jobs across India?
Ans. Yes, the B.Ed degree from SHEAT is fully valid for government school teaching jobs across India. SHEAT College of Higher Education is affiliated to MGKVP (a UGC-recognised state university) and the B.Ed programme is approved by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), which is the statutory body that regulates teacher education in India. An NCTE-approved B.Ed degree is the mandatory qualification for appearing in UP TET, CTET, and other state-level teacher eligibility tests, and for applying to government school teaching positions through UP Basic Education Board, KVS, NVS, and other recruitment bodies.
Ques. What is the total fee for the B.Ed course at SHEAT, and are there any additional charges?
Ans. The total tuition fee for the 2-year B.Ed programme at SHEAT is approximately Rs. 51,250 (Rs. 25,625 per year) as per MGKVP affiliated college norms. A one-time prospectus fee of Rs. 1,500 and a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 5,000 are charged at the time of admission. University exam and registration fees are payable separately each year. Ques. Is admission to B.Ed at SHEAT only through UP B.Ed JEE, or is direct admission also available?
Ans. Admission to B.Ed at SHEAT is primarily through the UP B.Ed JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) conducted by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. This is a state-level entrance exam mandatory for B.Ed admissions in all MGKVP-affiliated and other UP university-affiliated colleges. There is no direct admission route for B.Ed in UP; all candidates must appear for UP B.Ed JEE and go through the centralised counselling process. The UP B.Ed JEE 2026 exam is scheduled for May 31, 2026, and registration is open till April 30, 2026.
Ques. What subjects can I teach after completing B.Ed from SHEAT?
Ans. The subjects you can teach after B.Ed depend on the teaching subjects you choose during the programme. B.Ed students typically select two teaching subjects from their graduation specialisation. Common teaching subjects available at MGKVP-affiliated B.Ed colleges include Hindi, English, Social Science, Science, Mathematics, Sanskrit, and others. After completing B.Ed, you can teach these subjects at the secondary (Class 6-10) and senior secondary (Class 11-12) levels in government and private schools, subject to clearing UP TET or CTET.
Ques. What is the school internship component in B.Ed at SHEAT, and how long is it?
Ans. The school internship (also called Teaching Practice or Practicum) is a mandatory component of the B.Ed programme under NCTE norms. Students are required to spend a minimum of 16 weeks (approximately 4 months) in actual school settings, where they plan and deliver lessons under the supervision of experienced teachers and college mentors. This internship is spread across both years of the programme. It is a critical component that develops real classroom teaching skills and is assessed as part of the final B.Ed evaluation. SHEAT coordinates with local schools in Varanasi for the internship placements.
Ques. After B.Ed from SHEAT, what are the next steps to become a government school teacher in UP?
Ans. After completing B.Ed from SHEAT, the next steps to become a government school teacher in UP are: (1) Appear for UP TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) - Paper 1 for Classes 1-5 and Paper 2 for Classes 6-8 - conducted by UP Basic Education Board.
