Gopeshwar College was established in the year 1956. It is just 5.2 kms away from Hathua Railway Station and 116 kms away from Gorakhpur Junction. It is situated in a lush green environment friendly campus on the land. It is affiliated to Jai Prakash University, Chapra and approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). The college has recently increased in the number of girl students and the students belonging to reserved categories.

For the 2025-29 undergraduate admissions cycle, the first merit list was released and the admission deadline (for selected students to enroll) was 30 June 2025. The college website shows that the “Admission form 2026” is live, which suggests the admission cycle for 2026-29 batch will start only once the new merit list / notification is out.
Admissions have already been concluded for the academic year 2023-24 at the Gopeshwar College Hathua, Gopalganj.
